Job DescriptionRole Title: Senior Principal Project ControllerLocation: Bristol- 2 to 3 days per week onsiteDuration: 12 monthsClearance required: SC ClearedDay Rate: £500 per day via umbrella companySenior Principal Project Controllers operate as individual contributors who provide support to more senior members of the IDT and PMO. Role holders will be starting to engage and influence IDTs in order to ensure projects are developed and delivered in line with agreed standards, contractual agreements and customer expectations. Individuals work with minimal supervision, solving problems that are complex.AccountabilitiesTypically demonstrating the accountabilities in:Medium to Large complexity projects (LCM3 to LCM4)Projects with multiple stakeholdersProjects with medium to high riskLeadership, team engagement and development of team through delegation, task management, coaching and mentoring and line management;Delivery of Standards, tools and processes of a Project Controls team within a Business Unit;Lead on the delivery of the Project Controls function to the teams within a Business Unit, IDTs and other large and complex strategic programmes;Responsibility of Service Delivery and performance of project teams within assigned IDTs or programmes and the provision of a Project Controls function;Provide coaching and mentoring to other members of the PCP&R and wider Delivery Support function;A high level of understanding of project finances and reporting metrics;Contribute to the design and improvement of a project support capability and process.Key Performance IndicatorsAccuracy and timeliness of reports/analysisCompliance with company policies, project and planning processes and toolsPrioritisation of workload/coordination of activitiesWorking with a minimal level of supervisionReporting of performance to IDT and Controls ManagerInternal and/or external customer feedbackDocumented internal recognition as key point of contact for Project/FunctionKeyCapabilities & KnowledgeCustomer orientated: serving and building value-added relationships with customers focused on the internal customerMarket aware: understanding the market in which the Business Unit, Programmes and Projects operatesCollaboration and influence: working effectively with, and influencing across the business to generate a positive impact on business performanceResults orientated: focused on improvement of business results, including accurate forecasting and time, cost and schedule excellenceChange leadership: transforming and aligning the business through its people to drive for improvement in new and challenging directions, energising the whole Business Unit to change in the same direction;People and organisational development: developing the long-term skills and capabilities of P3M staff and the Business Unit as a whole;Team leadership: focusing, aligning and building effective teams across the Business Unit, including the development of P3M skills and process, supported by appropriate PMO functions, project teams and toolsExperience & QualificationsEducated to a minimum of GCSE level (to included English and Mathematics)Competence against the agreed Project Controls Competency Framework at a level of Practitioner or APMP Practitioner Certificate desirableSignificant experience in setting up and delivering a Project Controls Function within a PMO environment or similar;Experience of working in a matrix management organisation;Understanding and knowledge of P3M;Experience in Stakeholder management across a Business Unit and the wider corporate business;Technical/Engineering/Projects background to understand the overall needs of the Business unit
