Site Operative Location: Field Based (Office Hub located in St Ives, Cambridgeshire)- Bishops Cleeve, Stroud, Gloucester, Tewkesbury, and Cheltenham Reporting To: Site Operations Planning Manager / Senior Site Manager / Site Manager / Site Foreman People Responsibility: Not Applicable Works With: - Site Management - Site Crews - Operations Team - Projects Team Salary £12 - £13 per hour (guaranteed 40hrs per week) 5 – 6 days field based Essential: working away from home around 1 – 2 weeks at a time. We are only posting these 5 adverts for the Cheltenham Recruitment Fair to attract as many applicants as possible Main Purpose of the Role To work on site as part of the delivery team. Taking instruction from Site Management to assist in erecting and dismantling temporary and permanent structures in accordance with project specific plans and appropriate safety regulations. Key Responsibilities * Working with other site crew to set up structure frames as per manufacturers/site managers instructions. * Working with/alongside seating and scaffolding systems * Carrying out physical labour on site * Working in a busy construction environment with heavy plant movement * Working on (if certified) or safely alongside plant equipment such as Counterbalance Forklift, Rough Terrain, Telehandler, Scissor Lift, Cherry Picker * Under supervision – reading and working from site specific plans and layout drawings. * Behave in a professional, courteous manner at all times. * Complete any paperwork associated with running the site efficiently, accurately and in a consistent manner. * Supporting Site Managers with accident reporting, post job report sheets and sign off sheets. * Work efficiently and cost effectively * Complete online and on-site Induction process, including but not limited to: completing online health and safety modules. * Adhering to site rules, safe systems of work and company procedures at all times. * Signing in and out as directed. * As required by their Senior Site Manager / Site Manager / Crew Manager to carry out any other reasonable duties, and such should be familiar with the operation of the whole site and environment. Safety Responsibilities: * Take reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of others. * Cooperate with Arena Group and follow instructions, policies and procedures as detailed. * Not engage in any improper conduct that could endanger themselves or anyone else. * Participate in safety and health training offered by Arena. * Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) required for their job tasks. * Serve as a good role model to co-workers, contractors, visitors and clients for safe work practices and behaviour at all work locations. * Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area. * Address any safety concerns quickly and report concerns. Knowledge Required No relatable experience required - all training will be provided. Experience working in construction or in a site-based labouring role is desirable. Experience working in the events industry setting up/dismantling Marquees is desirable. Skills & Qualifications * Literacy & numeracy (desirable) * Full UK Driving Licence (desirable) * Plant Machinery tickets such as Forklift (Counterbalance / Reach / Rough Terrain), Scissor Lift or Cherry Picker is desirable but not essential. * Tickets such as CSCS, NPORS, working at height and/or First Aid at Work is desirable. * Confidence working at heights Behaviours & Competencies Adaptability: Maintains effectiveness in varying work environments where circumstances and priorities are changing. Other Information A moderate level of fitness is required to comfortably carry out the job tasks. This role can involve a substantial amount of manual handling including bending, stretching, stooping, stepping, reaching, and lifting. Having a good range of mobility is important to ensure you can work safely within health and safety regulations without placing undue strain on your body. Generally, the working hours a minimum of 40 hours per week. However, in peak session the sites operate extended hours over 7 days a week. Therefore, flexibility is required
