About the vacancy:

In this role you will work as part of a team to deliver a professional and cost-effective service, maintaining and improving the homes of NCH customers. This includes:

Specifically, in the role you will:

  • Possess practical, productive and electrical engineering skills with adequate technical knowledge so as to be able to work on own proficiently and carry out electrical installation work without immediate supervision to the most efficient and economical manner. To work from drawings, specifications and requisition of the necessary installation materials and be able to accept the responsibility for accurate completion of job and, where required, support other operatives.
  • Design and construction of electrical installations, full and part rewires housed in different containment systems. e conduit, trunking etc to adhere to the current IEE Wiring Regulations.
  • Maintain and certify all areas of the business; commercial and domestic properties, inclusive of but not limited to; all properties and schemes operated by NCH and external lighting where NCH have control over the electrical supply and are able to isolate, Undertake works from minor repairs to installation of new circuits, completing relevant testing and certification.
  • Complete all relevant electrical testing and safety certificates. Installation and condition reports of minor work, fire alarm, smoke alarm and emergency lighting certification
  • Install, maintain, diagnose fault and repair a range of heating systems and controls.
  • Install, maintain, diagnose fault and repair a range of door entry systems.
  • Undertake cyclical testing of emergency lighting; both maintained and unmaintained and fire alarm systems, completing testing procedures monthly and annually. Evidence all maintenance, replacements etc in the relevant log books ensuring all installations adhere to current regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Undertake multi-skilled ancillary tasks associated with the primary role objective, where and when required.
  • To mentor, coach and develop apprentices and other members of staff.
  • To ensure all repairs are completed within the specified time period to a required standard and conform to the requirements of the current regulations and driver handbook.
  • Drive an allocated works vehicle in line with the driver handbook, to pre-inspect, identify and obtain the resources, materials and plant required to complete a repair to the required standard.
  • Accurately record work time, materials and plant used to complete a repair ensuring maximisation of resources.
  • Ensure the safe use and safe storage of any plant issued reporting any defects.
  • Conduct daily safety checks of the allocated works vehicle and record the findings in the appropriate manner.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders across the business internally and externally.
  • To work at all times in a safe and appropriate manner to meet the duties and responsibilities within the Health and Safety policies and procedures of the association.
  • Additional, reasonable duties as required.
