Role summary The chosen candidate will play a crucial role within the Classified Infrastructure team, undertaking the responsibility of maintaining and managing the overall performance and availability of classified networks and other hosted systems, and actively providing support to users at all levels of the organization-effectively addressing infrastructure support issues, which is an essential aspect of their role Principle Responsibilities Administering a blend of physical and virtualized production environments. Providing technical input for infrastructure changes in adherence to change management processes. Contributing to design and assurance processes. Timely resolution of incidents within agreed-upon service levels. Identifying and taking ownership of underlying problems discovered during day-to-day operations, managing them to resolution, and escalating to the regional TS Service manager when necessary. Installing and supporting hardware, including servers, networking equipment, PCs, thin clients, printers, and telephones. Installing and supporting software, encompassing both server and desktop applications. Offering support for Exchange, Active Directory, VMWare, SharePoint, and Citrix platforms. Providing support for Linux OS, covering variants of Redhat and Debian. Offering network support for Cisco environments. Executing routine operations schedules for servers, server applications, databases, systems, and network elements using established and repeatable procedures following corporate standards and requirements. Updating or creating additional material as needed. Education / Experience At least two of (or equivalent) RHCSA / RHCE (preferred) MCSA / MCSE (preferred). CCNA / CCDA. VCP 3-5 years' experience of working in a busy IT Department, or other relevant work experience. Technical Skills Advanced installation, configuration and support of the following: Linux OS, platforms including variants of Redhat and Debian Microsoft Active Directory Microsoft Windows Server 2016 & 2019 Microsoft Exchange 2016 & 2019 SQL Server 2016, 2017 Windows Desktop VMWARE (Infrastructure 5.5 and higher / vSphere 7 ) Networking & Security - TCP/IP, DNS, Firewall Install, Configure & Support Citrix Provisioning service End point protection Personal Characteristics Meticulous attention to detail and exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. Maintains a positive attitude and thrives under challenging deadlines. Adept at managing multiple priorities in dynamic environments. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong interpersonal skills. Adopts a flexible approach to work, showcasing the ability to proactively take initiative and work independently, yet equally comfortable collaborating within a team where ideas and skills are shared. Quick learner with the ability to acquire new skills on the job. Possesses a keen understanding of the potential impact of changes on existing environments. Professional and adaptable, capable of swiftly adjusting to changing requirements or priorities and redirecting efforts to assist other teams or projects. Other Attributes Due to the secure network required this role will be based on-site at either our Yeovil, London or Guildford sites, travel to other locations will also be required when necessary.
