Job summaryWe're looking for committed, enthusiastic people to join ourinnovative multi-disciplinary team based in York's newest purpose-built primarycare facility.As the successful candidate, you will be a key part of ourtwo partner practice and will work alongside a growing team.You will be the first point of contact for patients and beresponsible for receiving, assisting, and signposting patients in accessing theappropriate service in a courteous, efficient, and effective way. You will alsoprovide general assistance to the practice team.At Unity Health, the main way that patients contact us isvia email or phone depending on the patient's preference. We do not makepatients complete an online form so all contact made by a patient to thesurgery will be answered by a member of Unity Health staff.Unity Health currently operates 2 surgeries to the South andEast of York, close to excellent local amenities. We are a consistently highQoF achiever, a supporting member of the Humber & North Yorkshire ICB andan active member of the Student Health Association (SHA). Main duties of the jobThe main duties as a medical receptionist at Unity Health will include:- Being the first point of contact for all people contacting the surgery in person, via email and on the telephone. This can be people from patients and their carers to delivery men and contractors.- Accurately signposting patients to the most appropriate service/person for their need using training provided and resources made available.- Providing assistance to the wider team in the surgery.- Projecting a positive and friendly image of the surgery.- Booking and amending appointments appropriately.- Play a huge role in the day to day running of the surgery to ensure that things run smoothly.- Report any concerns to the relevant persons at the earliest opportunity.- Have strong IT skills which are vital to this role About usThe practice is stable, led by a strongpartnership and supported by a loyal team of staff. We offer a full range ofservices, with the provision of high-quality care and enhanced patientexperience being at the heart of the practice development.Unity Health is a York-based NHS GPpractice, serving more than 18,000 patients. It has a long history of familymedicine dating back over 60 years. It also has over 30 years' experience instudent health, providing healthcare to the University of York.We see a wide range of conditionspresented by the variety of patients coming into the practice. No two days arethe same which makes it a very interesting workplace.The reception team is made up ofapproximately 15 receptionists who work there hours across the week and at bothsurgeries. Kimberlow Hill Surgery is open 8am-8pm Monday Thursday, 8am-6pm Friday and 9am-1pm Saturday meaning there is alot of flexibility with hours. Wenlock Terrace surgery is open 8am-6pm Monday Friday. We work on a rolling shift pattern, at interview your hours will bediscussed, we will then propose some hours to you, once accepted these will beyour hours going forward.
