Are you an exceptional teaching assistant who wants to make a real difference to the lives of children with SEND? We are currently looking for a HLTA who is: ● An experienced practitioner with the ability to support and enrich excellent teaching that meets the needs of all pupils ● Passionate about enriching the curriculum ensuring that all children have access with a personalised entitlement To be successful in this role you will require commitment to their model of social inclusion and a clear understanding of what an alternative provision is and what one looks like. You will ideally have had some sort of experience teaching and some sort of experience in dealing with the types of learners who struggle in a mainstream school setting. You will need to be able to motivate and inspire the learners to complete work and behave appropriately in accordance with company policies. You will need to be able to build professional working relationships with learners and fellow staff and you will have the ability to work as part of a team, making good decisions and contributing to the teaching and delivery of all aspects of the courses they offer. About the Role PURPOSE: To work independently providing Preparation, Planning and Assessment (PPA) cover with a significant commitment to whole class teaching. To work collaboratively with class teachers to plan, teach and assess an innovative curriculum so all pupils (including pupils with special educational needs and disabilities) may achieve success in line with the school vision, ethos and aims. The delivery model is 80% practical:20% theory and therefore your ability to build positive, respectful and responsive relationships with young people, who are deemed 'hard to reach', is essential. Underpinning this will be a commitment to safeguarding and a sound knowledge of health and safety. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure all company procedures are implemented and followed including H&S, Risk Assessment and Safeguarding Treat Safeguarding young people as a priority Challenge inappropriate behaviour and de-escalate potential incidents according to company policy Remain on-site at all times during provision and supervise young people in your care Act as Deputy Safeguarding Lead and report all incidents and accidents to the Centre Manager To work in a variety of ways to support, motivate and challenge identified students to raise levels of attendance and good behaviour. To develop an understanding of the special educational needs of the identified students Support students with additional needs to access the classroom and meet their learning and personal goals To Coordinate an individualised curriculum for identified students. To organise and develop teaching and learning resources and ensure that learning experiences offered to them are appropriate and relevant to their needs. To continually review and develop the range of learning experiences offered to students in conjunction with subject specialists. To ensure records and files are kept up to date relating to the identified students Invigilate external assessments Manage programme budgets and order resources in a timely manner Take responsibility for delivering learning activities with groups who would benefit from a different learning approach as agreed with the class tutor. Any other task directed by the Head of School which falls within the purview of the post. Commitment to complete mandatory CPD each year, attend 5 days staff training days. Contribute to a working SEF. Feedback to parents on Learners' progress as appropriate Act as a Key Worker taking responsibility for groups of Learners.
