Job Title: Operations Director

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Operations Director to lead our logistics operations team. As a key member of the organization, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the operations of a crucial client contract. The successful candidate will have a strong background in logistics management and operations management, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement logistics strategies to achieve business objectives, ensuring efficient and cost-effective transportation, warehousing, and property strategy.
- Manage the logistics operations team, providing guidance, coaching, and mentoring to ensure high levels of performance and employee satisfaction.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, service delivery and sales to ensure seamless execution of logistics operations.
- Analyse and optimize logistics processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Develop and maintain relationships with carriers, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure reliable and cost-effective services.
- Manage budgets and costs associated with logistics operations, ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
- Lead health and safety across all UK sites ensuring a safe culture is always promoted.
- Develop and implement metrics to measure performance, track progress, and identify areas for improvement.
- Lead projects and initiatives to improve logistics operations, such as process re-engineering, technology implementation, and supply chain optimization.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously improve logistics operations.
- Relocate existing warehouse facility to a brand-new purpose-built location
- Build and maintain excellent client relationships.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in logistics operations management, with a strong background in transportation management, warehousing, and inventory management.
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and motivate others.
- Experience with transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies related to logistics operations.
Nice-to-Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Master's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Experience with lean principles and six sigma methodology.
- Knowledge of international trade regulations and customs compliance.
- Familiarity with data analytics tools and software (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI).
