Head of Planning Package c£75k +£5k market supplement Rother District Council is looking to the future. With a new Chief Executive in 2023 and a new Deputy Chief Executive who commenced in spring 2024, we have developed a fresh Council Plan and Target Operating Model to deliver our vision for the district. Our new senior leadership structure and People Strategy will ensure we have the capacity and capability required to drive the changes required now and, in the future, making the most of significant external investments announced in the past 12 months. We have three new senior roles which could be a fantastic chance for you to progress your career, working with a friendly and committed team in a beautiful part of the country improving outcomes for our residents. All of these key roles are required to build effective and long-lasting relationships both within and outside of the Council, and as such, we expect a commitment to attend the Town Hall in Bexhill on Sea an average of two days a week as part of flexible hybrid working arrangements. This is a recently created position to ensure that the Council’s Planning Service is supported to deliver a new local plan; and robust and defensible planning decisions, to create the best place in terms of design and function for the people of Rother. As the Head of Planning, you will: lead the local plan, deliver the fundamental changes to the digital delivery of Planning services, and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Development Management Service; be a key member of the Council’s leadership team; enable the organisation and district to achieve it’s ambitions for the place. be supported by, and support, well-resourced Planning Policy and Development Management Teams. You will be an RTPI professional with a track record of leading and managing planning team/s and effectively improving planning services and implementing positive change.
