We have an exciting new opportunity for a Construction Quantity Surveyor to expand our team based on one of our construction sites in Essex. In this role you will implement best commercial practices to maintain and maximise the profitability and financial performance of the project. Responsibilities Take full financial and commercial responsibility for a portfolio of contracts ensuring that JCA cost effectively deliver contracted services as well as additional services, within legislative and contractual obligations Responsible for the pro-active financial support of the delivery teams to process monthly valuations, applications, forecasts and any variations Responsible for the timely and accurate administration of contracts assigned including but not limited to the compilation and submission of EoT requests, variations etc. Ensure that contracts are correctly administered in accordance with the relevant legal framework In a timely manner to carry out financial forecasting and reporting of cost, sales, gross profit, and risk associated with all projects assigned to you Ensure that statutory obligations are met in full and ensure that the business is not exposed to undue risks, with regular reporting on mitigation measures Ensure that records, data and systems are maintained up to date and in accordance with standards, policies and procedures Maintain excellent client relationships, develop, and maximise opportunities for additional revenue and margin and contract retention Work with all stakeholders to identify opportunities in line with business strategy Job Specifics Generate studies to estimate materials, time, and labour costs pre and post contract as required. Report any opportunities you have identified with existing and new clients and provide information and assistance to estimating team to allow them to tender/quote. Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities, schedule of rates etc. Integrate with the estimating team to achieve robust prime costs and seamless transition through to contract stage providing attendance at client meetings and site visits, as necessary. Preparing, negotiating, analysing, and reporting on supply chain costs for tenders and contracts. Identifying, analysing, and developing responses to commercial risk. Ensure that agreed contract terms are in place for each engagement and manage contract works in accordance with those contract terms. Ensure that additional work opportunities are financially closed out in the month of work completion. Manage quantity surveying teams (where applicable) ensuring that resources are efficiently allocated to contracts for the contract. Manage supply chain and sub-contractor engagement contracts from enquiry stage through to practical completion and retention release. Identify change requirements and expedite opportunities to maximise revenue and to de-risk contract delivery. Report on contract commercial and financial performance in accordance with company KPI protocols. Manage financial application, job costing, and forecasting update processes for contract sales. Qualifications and Experience Must have qualifications in one of the following: Quantity Surveying and/or Construction / Engineering Qualification (HND or Degree Level) e.g. BTEC in Building Studies, Building Engineering or Building Management or a HNC / HND / Degree in Quantity Surveying MRICS CSCS card holder relevant to role Can demonstrate leadership and management style in keeping with JCA’s brand image Can demonstrate excellent analytical skills and has experience of Document Management Systems, SharePoint, Dynamics CRM, Asta Powerproject, Excel, Anaplan or similar/equivalent packages A minimum of three years experience of managing elements of construction projects Has experience of working in an SME and can demonstrate an understanding of the need to have a broad business understanding Maintain knowledge of the construction and engineering industry’s statutory requirements, methods, differing building contract types and processes Excellent communication and negotiating skill Driving licence holder About us JCA is a multi-faceted engineering services and construction business.
