Shift Operations Technician - Power Generation

Shift Operations Technician – Energy from Waste Up to £54,000 + bonus + benefits Bedfordshire MC Technical Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Shift Operator / Operations Technician / DCS Operator to join the operations department of an energy from waste power station near Bedford. This plant processes over 600,000 tonnes of waste per year generating enough energy to power over 112,000 homes. The Shift Operations Technician will be responsible for starting, stopping and monitoring the plant via the control room to ensure the site meets its operational targets in a safe and efficient manner. As a Shift Operations Technician you will be responsible for: Starting, stopping and monitoring boilers, steam turbines, pumps, water treatment plant and heat exchangers via a DCS Monitoring trends such as pressure, temperatures and flows around the facility and making adjustments accordingly Performing basic first line maintenance tasks and reporting any defects to the Shift Team Leader Assisting with shutdown activities within the plant ensuring downtime is kept to a minimum Carrying out all activities with the highest regard for health and safety To be considered for this role you should have: Operational experience gained in a heavy process environment that involves the generation of high-pressure steam e.g. power generation, chemical, refinery, CHP etc utilising a DCS / SCADA control system Ideally a relevant engineering qualification such as ONC/BTEC/NVQ/apprenticeship etc Basic first line maintenance experience would be desirable A flexible approach to working routines and willingness to work on a shift pattern that involves 12-hour shifts This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading business within the energy from waste sector.
