Position: Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Oxfordshire Salary: £35k - £45k An innovative and forward-thinking company is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its talented engineering team. This role is ideal for a motivated individual with experience in developing industrial products, especially in the flow control space (valves and similar equipment). If you're someone who enjoys taking ownership of projects and working across the entire product lifecycle, this opportunity could be perfect for you. The Role: As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, modeling, and analyzing industrial valve products using CAD tools such as SolidWorks. You will also work closely with the engineering team, supporting the development of new products and improving existing designs. Additionally, you’ll play an active role in testing, validation, and ensuring the smooth transition of products to customers. Key Responsibilities: * Design and update industrial valve products, including creating CAD models and detailed drawings using GD&T to BS8888 standards. * Perform FEA (Finite Element Analysis) to ensure safety and integrity of designs. * Manage design documents and drawings within a PDM system. * Write and review technical documents like build procedures, operation manuals, and design reports. * Support validation testing and improve manufacturing/assembly processes. * Collaborate with other departments to ensure products are efficiently delivered to customers. Required Skills and Experience: * Proficiency in CAD design (SolidWorks or similar), creating detailed machining drawings to a high standard. * Experience in FEA analysis and working with PDM systems. * A degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or an advanced modern apprenticeship with relevant experience. * Strong understanding of industry standards (BS, ISO, ASME). * At least 2 years of industry experience in a similar role. Desirable Skills: * Hydraulic systems or pressure vessel design experience. * Knowledge of metal manufacturing processes (casting, forging). * Experience in industrial valve development. * Familiarity with standards like B16.34, B16.5, API6D/ISO 14313. * Understanding of hazardous area certifications (ATEX, IECEx, CSA).
