Job Requirements / Description
Deputy Children’s Home Manager – Burton Area Take the Lead in Something Bigger. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill management role—it’s a chance to shape lives. At Classroom Recruiters, our client is launching an exciting new project in the Burton area. They’re building a 2-bed children’s home from scratch, and we need someone just as ambitious to help steer this journey. This isn’t about clocking in and out; it’s about making meaningful, lasting change. We’re searching for a Deputy Children’s Home Manager ready to take the reins, ready to be trained and nurtured into becoming a Registered Manager for a brand-new home. If you’re looking for your first step up, this is your shot. You don’t need to have Level 5just yet—we’ll train you, we’ll support you, and we’ll set you up for success. What’s the Mission? Imagine walking into a blank slate: a brand-new home, ready for you to leave your mark. You’ll be a part of something fresh, something that isn’t bogged down by outdated systems or red tape. You’ll be side-by-side with directors who are hands-on, crafting an environment where children can flourish and your team can thrive. This role isn’t about following a template; it’s about writing one. You’ll be working Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, in an industry where those hours are as rare as they come. And don’t worry about the OFSTED registration—we’ll handle that while you focus on what matters most: creating a home that works. What You’ll Be Doing: * Leading the way: You’ll manage day-to-day operations, but you’ll also be mentoring your staff, ensuring everyone is on the same page and delivering top-tier care. * Shaping the future: You’ll play a vital role in creating a home from the ground up, implementing policies, procedures, and culture in a way that feels authentic. * Delivering results: This isn’t about going through the motions; it’s about ensuring children in care achieve real, positive outcomes. * Meeting high standards: You’ll ensure full compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations (2015) and keep the home OFSTED-ready, always a step ahead. What You Need to Bring: * Experience: You’ve got at least 3 years of experience working with children in residential care—you know the ropes and are ready to step up. * Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent is essential. The rest? We’ll cover your training and get you that Level 5. * Knowledge: You’ve got a firm grasp on Children’s Homes Regulations and the requirements of OFSTED. You know what it takes to build a home that exceeds expectations. * Leadership: You’re more than a manager—you’re someone who nurtures junior staff, brings out the best in your team, and fosters a positive, forward-thinking culture. Who You Are: * Driven: You’re always looking for ways to improve—whether it’s systems, staff morale, or the lives of the children you care for. * Passionate: You believe in what you do, and you do it with everything you’ve got. Changing lives isn’t a job for you, it’s a calling. * Positive: You’re the kind of leader who inspires others—your team, your directors, and most importantly, the children. You build up the people around you, and no challenge feels too big. * Ambitious: You’re ready for the next step in your career, and you want to make a difference in a place where you’ll have the room and support to do things right. What’s On Offer: * Salary: £45,000 to £50,000, with very achievable bonuses. * Work-life balance: Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. Yes, really. * Career growth: You’ll be part of a management programme, with training paid for by your employer. You’ll be developed into a Registered Manager of your own home. * Team spirit: You’ll work closely with directors who get it—they’ve been in the trenches and know the importance of hands-on support. You’ll be backed by a team that’s in it for the right reasons. Why This Role Is Different: Most jobs ask for a list of boxes to be ticked. This one’s about making a difference. If you’ve grown tired of the corporate machine and want to be part of a child-focused team that’s genuinely committed to delivering outstanding care, this is where you belong. This is more than a role—it’s an opportunity. An opportunity to shape the future, create lasting impact, and lead with purpose. Ready to be part of something exceptional? Apply today—your next step could be the most important one you’ll ever take
