Murphy is currently recruiting a Design Manager to join our award-winning team known for its extensive in-house expertise and continual drive to innovate within the industry. The Design Manager will report into the Senior Engineering Manager supporting a portfolio of energy transition design projects. Successful candidates will have management and technical responsibility for teams of engineers working across energy transition projects. The Design Manager shall manage the delivery of safe, practical, and economic designs for internal and external clients to a high standard of professional competence, in compliance with Company procedures, recognised standards and current legislation. Murphy Applied Engineering is an in-house multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, implementing the 'Better Engineered' strategic driver to achieve smart, safe, and constructible solutions, covering the full range of energy sectors including natural gas, CO2, hydrogen and power transmission. What you will be doing •    Lead the engineering design delivery on energy transition design projects. •    Manage the design output of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers in line with the project requirements,         programme and estimate. •    Manage design engineering output at any project stage such as tender, Early Contractor Involvement, Pre- FEED, FEED, and detailed design stages. •    Preparation of work hours estimates and proposals. •    Develop the design and engineering aspect of project programmes. •    Develop design management plans in line with project requirements. •    Ensure compliance with the information delivery plan and ISO 19650. •    Integrate multiple engineering disciplines including process, mechanical, civil / structural, electrical,       instrumentation, control and survey from a mix of internal and external designers. •    Undertake the role of Principal Designer Representative on project(s) where required, ensuring design i   nformation is being suitable managed and communicated to the various roles and compliant with the requirements   of CDM 2015 Regulations •    Review design pack submissions as required for technical compliance, quality, and completeness. •    Monitor and expedite key engineering programme issues. •    Review and liaise with internal Temporary Works Coordinators and Designers to ensure appropriate consideration of constructability and required permanent works. •    Manage compliance with standards and client requirements and assist in monitoring to ensure working to standard requirements. •    Ensure an understanding of, and an influence on the contracts that Design Consultants are working under including their fees, schedule of services, programme, and liabilities and warranties. Who we are looking for: •    Degree qualified engineer preferably in process or mechanical engineering •    Chartered with a professional institution regulated by the Engineering Council (or working towards Chartership) •    Experience managing Pre-FEED, FEED, ECI & detailed design associated with energy transition projects in the UK. •    Experience carrying out the role of Principal Designer Representative under CDM 2015 desirable. •    Excellent communication skills
