Grounds Person

Our client, located in Castle Cary, have an opportunity for a Grounds Person to join their friendly team on a permanent basis. Have you always wanted to spend more of your time outdoors? As a Grounds Person, you will have a huge impact and will be the leading factor in making the school grounds both functional and aesthetic. The Job As a Grounds Person, you will be responsible for the overall upkeep of the school grounds, carrying out important gardening tasks such as weeding, planting, and leaf clearance. This is a varied role that will see you have an influential impact in making sure our client’s premises are kept safe and looking its best. Key responsibilities: * Ensure lawns are maintained to a high standard. * Carrying out daily preparation and maintenance of rugby, football, and cricket pitches. * Carrying out general upkeep of sports equipment such as football goals and cricket cages. * Assisting with the repair and replacement of fences. * Carrying out chainsaw work. * Seeping, blowing, and overmarking. About you This role is a terrific opportunity for an outdoorsy individual with a positive attitude to come on board and get the job done! Key Requirements: * Previous experience in gardening and grounds work. * Prior experience with sports turf management. * Previous experience working within a school environment is preferred. * A chainsaw license is preferable. * A valid driver’s license and your own vehicle as you will not be able to travel to the premises via public transport. Salary £25,500 per annum. Hours 40 hours a week. Weekends will be worked on a rota basis.
