Associate Director of Facade Engineering

We are currently partnered with an International Specialist Consultancy, Engineering, and Advisory firm, with offices across the UK, UAE, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and Singapore, as they look to add an Associate Director of Facade Engineering to their division in London. The London arm of this consultancy is expanding and we are very keen to help them by bringing on an experienced team member to enable the expansion of the business in their core business function of Façade design. They are looking to appoint imminently. The business in London currently has around 35 members of stuff with the intention to grow to 65 over the next year and a half. This headcount growth is due to excellent repeat business requests and the winning of exciting new projects both here in the UK and across the Middle East. The current headcount in their Façade design team is 7 with plans to grow further before years end aiming to reach 20 by the close of 2025. The role will be to support the successful delivery of UK and international projects, working with design and project team Engineers and Senior Consultants throughout all project phases. The role will also include independent project management of complex design and construction projects, covering all aspects of Facade Engineering. Role Purpose: Facilitate growth of the company's Façade division across London and the wider UK market, whilst leveraging the AESG brand to strengthen our presence in the international façade markets Leading façade design service line, managing team of designers and engineers Hold responsibility for leadership with client development and team growth. The successful candidate will be an experienced leader required to enhance the growth of an already established Façade design and engineering team. They are looking for an Associate Director with a track record in work winning and client development within façade design and project management services to major built environment construction projects in the UK, especially London. International experience will also be considered. The ideal candidate fits the below profile: * Strong track record of business development * Committed to technical excellence * High level of technical expertise with experience in numerous complex and prestigious projects * Motivated and self-driven (entrepreneurial outlook) * Good relationship builders (internal and external) * Driving quality and innovation on projects * Collaborative personality Responsibilities: * Lead business development activities to achieve revenue targets for the facade division. * Provide expert advice and guidance on façade design and engineering best practices and standards for UK real estate clients. * Demonstrable business development network and desire to grow a team around you. * Financial responsibility to ensure business profitability. * Independently manage complex projects with multifaceted technical scope and stakeholder management both internally and externally. * Experience in supporting the production of proposals, bids and Requests for Proposals (RFP) responses. * Ability to assess and understand design proposals and advise on associated risk. * Develop business plans and strategies for capitalising on existing relationships and entering new markets. * Strong leadership, interpersonal / people management, and mentoring skills to support senior leadership in building the regional team, reviewing staff performance, coaching, mentoring employees, driving training initiatives and continuous technical improvement in the division. * Development of facade management strategies and business growth Essential Skills: * BEng/BSc/BArch in Engineering, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or similar. * MSc Façade Engineering preferred. * Minimum of 8 (eight) years' experience across facade management. * Minimum of 4+ (four) years' experience in a client facing role. * Demonstratable network and experience in winning work across major built environment projects. * Demonstratable experience in leading and facilitating the growth of design teams. * UK experience with international experience preferred Company benefits include a generous employer pension contribution, regular opportunities for international travel, hybrid working, life insurance, private medical insurance, and a great deal more.
