The Role: As Assistant Estimator, you’ll be responsible for taking the lead on pre-contract and tender activity across a range of exciting projects, as the company expands its pre-construction capabilities to offer their experienced Estimators support and the successful candidate some of the best mentors in the industry. You’ll have the opportunity to get stuck into a diverse range of tenders, each with own challenges, with projects ranging in value from minor refurbishments floating around the £200k mark up to around £5m. There’s a genuine opportunity to establish yourself as a key player in the business, with progression towards managing your own tenders very much the long-term goal for the right individual. Responsibilities: * Assist with all tender activity including the pricing, preparation and submission of tenders from initial enquiry. * Provide detailed breakdowns of tenders, able to communicate project costs to key project stakeholders. * Obtain best value sub-contract and supplier prices, building an extensive network of trusted partners. * Procurement of sub-contract works including documentation and maintaining compliance. * Hold and attend regular tender review meeting. * Effective communication with clients, suppliers, external consultants and colleagues through to senior management. * In partnership with an experienced Bid Manager, preparing high quality bids that represent the company’s capabilities and profile. Qualifications & Experience: * A relevant Construction related Degree or equivalent Higher Education course, ideally Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Construction Management. This can either be completed, or the company will support the funding of your course if it is in process. * Previous experience within the industry in a main contracting environment is desirable, but as project scope is vast, all sector experience is welcome. * Ability to work under tight deadlines and deliver high-quality work. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
