Despatch Team Leader
Smurfit Westrock Weston Super Mare is one of the UK’s largest producers of corrugated packaging for the trade. We have vision of becoming an indispensable partner to our customers delivered through operational excellence and a highly engaged workforce. The Despatch Department is now looking to recruit another Despatch Team Leader to work alongside the two current Team Leaders and Moor Park counterparts.
Working on a 3-shift rotation pattern, as part of an established team you will be primarily responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of the Despatch department reporting in to the Transport and Despatch Manager. Responsibilities will include motivating and organising Shift 2 in all aspects of their work whilst ensuring Health and Safety and Quality standards are maintained and developed.
Alongside the above, there is an expectancy to develop and train all members within the department, complete audits and deliver toolbox talks. Managing pallet levels in the Main Warehouse is a key aspect of the role so the ideal candidate should have strong organisational skills combined with excellent communication skills.
The ideal candidate must be willing to evolve and adapt to the upcoming changes across the business and build key relationships across departments to ensure a smooth transition throughout the supply chain.
Key elements of the role involve:
- All H&S and Quality responsibilities including completing Audits and Safety Checks
- Daily Reports
- Operating/Maintaining the Strapper, Wrapper and LPD
- Loading/Unloading vehicles
- Marshalling finished goods and empty pallets
- Carrying out stock movements and keeping COBIS up to date
- Effective and prompt team communications and communicating with other departments
- Managing Despatch team including absence, appraisals and performance
Skills required:
- FLT experience and a strong understanding of despatch processes.
- Logical thought process
- Ability to work alone as well as part of a structured team.
- Ability to make calculated prompt decisions under pressure
- Flexible and adaptable attitude
- Strong & effective communicator with good people skills
- Keen attention to detail is a necessity.
