The job role
Working as a Deputy Manager for a Helpline Service that supports adults (18 years plus) with mental health. The large charitable organization is based in the West Midlands, with this role being based in Erdington. The Helpline service provides mental health support to people within Birmingham over 18 years. They provide advice, guidance and information over various methods including phone, email and webchat to families, individuals and carers.
The support is available all year round from (Apply online only) every day. Therefore shift work is required along with rotational weekend working.
The job purpose
The Deputy Manager will offer support to staff, providing direction to ensure a safe, effective service is provided. You will line manage staff and volunteers to ensure that information received is treated confidentially and recorded accurately on the data recording system. As a service, all support is provided via phone, email or webchat.
You will be responsible for the rota, ensuring adequate staffing and a management presence.
You will promote a positive focus on mental health with an emphasis on the recovery model.
You will provide supervision, appraisal and induction to staff
As the role involves working with data input and computers, you will use a range of IT applications to enable accurate recording of information
Part of your role will be monitoring calls for quality purposes and service improvement
You will identify and manage risk ensuring that risk assessments are reviewed and updated.
You will participate in the oncall rota and deputize for the manager in their absence.
Skills and knowledge required
* You must be able to demonstrate that you have a minimum 12 months experience working in Health and Social care
* 12 months (min) experience in a supervisory role within social care
* Experience of using monitoring / data base systems
* Experience of safeguarding concerns and how to raise them
* Proven experience and knowledge of GDPR principles
* Experience of working in mental health and challenging situations and experience of referral routes within mental health
* Experience of monitoring reports to meet KPI's
