Job Title : Business Development Manager Location : London   Job Overview We are working with an Early-Phase CRO looking for an ambitious and driven Business Development Manager to expand their client base and grow the market presence. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building relationships with potential clients, and promoting their specialised services, including clinical data management, pharmacovigilance, and medical writing. The ideal candidate is an experienced sales professional with a proven track record in the CRO or life sciences industry, who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.   Key Responsibilities Lead Generation & Client Acquisition : Proactively identify and target potential clients in the pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device industries. Generate leads through networking, cold-calling, industry events, and digital marketing strategies. Sales Strategy : Develop and implement a strategic sales plan to achieve revenue growth and expand our market share in the areas of data management, pharmacovigilance, and medical writing. Client Relationship Management : Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, understanding their needs, and providing tailored solutions that demonstrate the value of our services. Proposals & Contract Negotiation : Lead the preparation of high-quality proposals, presentations, and bids. Negotiate contracts to close deals and secure business partnerships. Market Research & Analysis : Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes affecting data management, pharmacovigilance, and medical writing. Use this insight to identify new market opportunities. Cross-functional Collaboration : Work closely with internal teams (e.g., operations, data management, pharmacovigilance, and medical writing) to ensure smooth project transitions and client satisfaction. Networking : Represent the company at industry conferences, meetings, and webinars to expand the network and raise brand awareness. Sales Reporting : Track and report on sales activities, pipeline development, and revenue forecasts using CRM tools. Provide regular updates to senior management on progress toward sales goals. Client Retention : Collaborate with project management and operations teams to ensure high-quality service delivery and maintain high levels of client satisfaction, fostering long-term partnerships.   Requirements Experience : 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or account management, preferably within the CRO, pharmaceutical, or life sciences sectors. Industry Knowledge : Deep understanding of clinical research services, with specific expertise in data management, pharmacovigilance, and medical writing . Familiarity with industry regulations (e.g., GCP, GVP) is a plus. Education : Bachelor's degree in life sciences, business, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications in healthcare, business, or related disciplines are a plus. Sales Skills : Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and driving revenue growth in a B2B environment. Communication : Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Negotiation Skills : Demonstrated ability to negotiate and close deals, including managing complex contract negotiations. Relationship Building : Ability to establish and nurture lasting relationships with clients at various levels, including C-suite executives. Self-motivation : A results-oriented, self-starter who thrives in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Travel : Willingness to travel for client meetings, conferences, and industry events (up to 30%).
