Director of Learning & Development - Interim


About the Role:

We are seeking a dynamic Interim Learning and Development Director to join our client’s team.

This role is responsible for driving business growth and innovation through effective development and delivery of learning programmes that include, regulatory training, core curriculum and leadership development initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the UK Learning & Development team to design, deliver, and manage impactful learning programmes that meet business needs.

- Manage relationships with key internal stakeholders and external bodies, including regulatory agencies such as OFSTED and funding bodies like the ESFA.

- Ensure their Apprenticeship programme is compliant and high-quality, with a focus on maximizing annual revenue from funding agencies.

- Oversee the strategic development of talent management and succession planning to foster a culture of growth and innovation.

- Maintain and develop Service Level Agreements (SLAs), driving continuous improvement and exceeding performance standards.

- Monitor compliance with relevant laws and regulations, ensuring all learning services meet industry standards and reduce business risk.

- Enhance employee engagement through insights from engagement surveys and implement action plans to improve workplace culture and satisfaction.


About You:

We are looking for a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of L&D in complex organizations. You should have experience managing large teams, overseeing significant budgets, and navigating the intricacies of apprenticeship programmes, compliance, and regulatory standards.


Key Skills and Experience:

- Proven track record of leading large L&D teams in a corporate environment.

- Expertise in managing relationships with external bodies such as OFSTED and ESFA.

- Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and delivering efficiencies.

- Knowledge of the Apprenticeship Levy and early career programmes (e.g. apprenticeships, graduate schemes).

- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and drive organizational change.

- Experience with learning management technology and driving operational improvements.
