Position: Technology Director - MCF Europe

Contract: Permanent

Location: Central London (3 days in the office)

THE ROLE IN SHORT:

Reporting to MCF Europe’s CEO and functionally to the Service & Solution CTO, the Director of Technology is a strategic and operational role that supports MCF Europe’s business strategy. The role is a member of the executive committee.

As part of the Michelin group the successful candidate will coordinate technology activities and ensure technology decisions are made in close collaboration with the Service and Solution (SES) Technology department.

The role of the Director of Technology at MCF Europe is twofold:

  • They are responsible to implement and execute the global technology strategy and follow the group’s guidelines (architecture governance, security, technology choices etc..)
  • They are responsible for managing the technology operations supporting MCF Europe’s business strategy (partnership, program management, operational troubleshooting, etc….)

The Director of Technology is an active contributor to the global Technology strategy and ensures all MCF Europe requirements are properly integrated in the global roadmap and delivered as expected.

The Director of Technology has P&L responsibility for the MCF Europe’s technology team.

The successful candidate will provide experienced leadership for all technical staff and maintain high quality standards for all technology services. The Director of Technology ensures that MCF Europe’s technology environment is secure and stable.


WHAT WOULD YOUR JOB LOOK LIKE:

  • Define the key elements of the technology strategy that will support MCF Europe’s business strategy
  • Working closely with the business and product teams, identify and secure the delivery of the components that are specific to MCF Europe’s regional requirements (including all supported regions)
  • Identify the elements of the strategy that must be delivered as part of the SES global Technology roadmap (ex: new hardware, new software components, new partnerships etc…)
  • A constant collaboration with the SES technology organisation is mandatory to ensure both regional and global requirements are delivered to support MCF Europe’s and SES Business strategy. As such the candidate will be included in key governance instances
  • Accelerate value creation for both MCF Europe and SES business line through the right partnership (buy vs build) and implement integration with the existing platform
  • Collaborate with SES product management and other business units to define and prioritise product features and enhancements
  • Ensure the MCF Europe technology organisation is following SES technology recommendations and guidelines (ex: architecture, best practices, tools and methodology)
  • Contribute to the definition of the Global SES Technology strategy and frameworks (ex: technology selection, cloud approach, etc…)
  • Work closely with other MCF entities to share best practices and ensure MCF Europe is delivering expected requirements from other entities (ex: Hardware, contracts, partnership, etc…)
  • Work closely with MCF Europe sales and operations team to fully understand customers and prospects expectations and pain points
  • Support sales and CXM teams answering customer questions and/or RFPs
  • Identify areas where quality has to be improved to increase positive customer’s perceptions measured through NPS
  • Identify areas where we can improve our ability to scale through new solutions and more automation
  • Lead IT teams in day-to-day operations, provide key expertise, supervise teams and set performance goals in line with MCF Europe’s strategy
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors, partners, and service providers to ensure high-quality service delivery and cost-effectiveness for MCF Europe
  • Evaluate and select external partners to support strategic technology initiatives
  • Contribute with the central team to upgrade the talent pool across the organisation, (attract, recruit and retain)
  • Work closely with the SES Security Director to identify and address security threats that might have been detected through pentests and other security detection mechanisms
  • Prepare and communicates regular reports for the CEO and SES Group CTO using business metrics and KPIs
  • Manage MCF Europe’s technology budget in line with Global SES Technology requirements


WHAT WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO BRING WITH YOU:

  • University degree in technology
  • Extensive technology leadership experience, preferably in a large scale SaaS environment
  • Firsthand knowledge in supervising development of software solutions
  • Exposure to main open source development framework (Java Spring, Maven, Jenkins, IntelliJ, Camel, Json, AMQ, Spring Data Mapping, RESTful Web Services, MongoDB or other NoSQL database)
  • Good knowledge of SaaS architectures, web-based systems architecture, enterprise application architecture
  • Understanding of cloud computing architecture, technical design and implementations including Platform as a Service (PaaS), Data as a Service (DaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS) delivery models using AWS or Azure stacks
  • Extensive knowledge of data capture, processing and valorisation at scale in a SaaS environment
  • Strong experience in complex ecosystem integrating components from different partners in a cloud base SaaS environment
  • Verifiable success as a key member of a senior management team, able to build strong rapport with peers and senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrate a passion for building an exciting environment to work in, which attracts, develops and retains A players
  • Expertise in operational technology management in an international environment including interaction with European based subsidiaries and partners.
  • A hands-on collaborator, able to span the demands of strategic projects and operational detail with ease
  • Strong commercial acumen, clear creative abilities, analytical orientation, high energy and resilience with exceptional organisational and influencing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills (e.g.: presentations, seminars, reports, etc.)
