Job Requirements / Description
To develop new and existing systems, system enhancements and modifications to accurately fulfill the Technical Specifications and Change Request received. To review and analyse assigned requests to provide solutions and indicative timescales in order to provide an efficient and coordinated installation of system changes to meet client requirements.Principal Job ObjectivesAnalyse Technical specifications and be able to develop/modify in house systems accordingly Develop system changes and execute installations of developed systems using in house standard practices Understand, investigate and produce gap analysis for change requestsAssist in the provision of accurate Technical Specifications for Third Party productsTo investigate and resolve system errors and crashesTo resolve allocated bugs/change requests/errors and other helpdesk jobs as allocated.Create and maintain documentation detailing the Company’s development methodology and ‘house style’, the documentation will be used as a training aid, and include;High-level information on best practice and accepted methods.Detailed information on significant processes, e.g. mailing services.Provide support and assistance to other developers as required.Participate in the provision of relevant training as and when requiredAnalyse requests and make recommendations for more efficient ways of achieving the desired systems outputEnhance systems for increased automation opportunities, efficiency and scalabilityMonitor system performanceDiscuss client requirements and proposed solutions with the IT team or our clientsCreate testing handover documentsProvide regular status updates to senior management and project teamProvide input to project delivery governance and development project plansBe able to take outcomes and business problems and recommend development solutionsAttend internal and external client facing meetingsWith the BA assist with providing technical solutions for documenting on change requestsLiaise and maintain relationships with other departmentsSupport and work in accordance with OPAL’s ISO27001 and TCF policies and procedures.Essential knowledge and experience required at recruitmentExcellent knowledge of Dbase 5 Novell, DOS and Linux or other appropriate legacy technologyExperience in requirements gathering and solution writing Good organisational and communication skillsDevelopment Lead experienceUnderstand the development and project lifecyclesAbility to work, at times, in a pressurised and fast moving environment and accurately record timeHigh quality of development workAbility to adapt to change with a flexible approachExperience of working within the Financial Services Industry an advantageAdditional Knowledge required to become fully competentUnderstanding of and the ability to develop in OPAL house standard practicesPreferred knowledge of single premium and regular premium products.FSA competent.Acquire and implement knowledge and awareness of ISO27001Performance ManagementResponsible for the delivery of quality developments, to house standard that meets the needs of the clientDemonstrate a professional, collaborative and supportive approach to colleagues.Output ResponsibilityCompliance with industry and statutory regulation.Responsibility for producing system development rules and ensuring adherence to them.Responsibility for developing and maintaining practices and procedures. Ensuring that these are implemented in a consistent manner with the appropriate level of controls.Responsible for improving working practices and procedures.
