We are seeking an experienced Logistics Subcontract Manager to join a dynamic SME 3PL transport business in a new role, based in Banbury. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing, managing and optimising subcontracted logistics services, ensuring smooth operations and driving efficiency across the UK-wide distribution network.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a growing, innovative company in the logistics space, where you will have the autonomy to shape and drive the subcontractor strategy.
With a strong background in 4PL logistics, you will bring in-depth knowledge of a broad range of logistics providers, with particular expertise in temperature-controlled and food logistics sectors. The role requires a proactive, technically skilled professional with experience in using Power BI, Transport Management Systems (TMS), and other key tools to deliver high-quality services and solutions to our clients.
Key Responsibilities

  • Subcontractor Management: Identify, negotiate, and manage relationships with subcontracted logistics providers, ensuring service levels are met, costs are controlled, and compliance with regulations is maintained.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with a diverse range of logistics providers, including those specialising in temperature-controlled and food logistics.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in 4PL logistics and managing subcontractors within a 3PL environment.
  • Strong technical ability with experience using Power BI, TMS systems, and other logistics technology.
  • A solid understanding of a broad range of UK-wide distribution networks and logistics service providers including temperature-controlled food logistics.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Highly analytical, with the ability to use data to make informed decisions and optimise processes.
  • Experience in cost management and working to strict budget controls.
