Field Service Engineer – Global Packaging Manufacturer - Central England Alexander Steele have partnered with a global leader in sustainable packaging! They design innovative, eco-friendly consumer packaging using renewable and recycled materials, partnering with some of the most recognised brands in the FMCG industry to reduce environmental impact. We are seeking a skilled technician to install, service and maintain industrial machinery at customer facilities. This role is part of a dedicated technical service team that works closely with sales and manufacturing to meet customer needs. Key Responsibilities: Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and control systems on machines installed at customer sites Oversee machine upgrades, overhauls and field tests of new designs Collaborate with sales and manufacturing teams to address customer issues and support new business opportunities Apply continuous improvement methods to enhance equipment productivity Use IT systems and applications to complete tasks efficiently Provide training to customer staff on safety, machinery maintenance, and product handling Prepare timely service reports and update technical documentation as needed Conduct audits and assess machine performance Liaise with other companies on joint projects Qualifications: 4+ years of experience in equipment maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting Technical training in industrial or mechanical engineering Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical systems and PLCs Candidates must have some experience of troubleshooting Servo systems. Familiarity with continuous improvement methods (e.g., Six Sigma) Willingness to travel and work flexible hours to meet customer needs Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Valid driver's license Desired Skills: Ability to identify root causes of problems and find effective solutions Strong customer service mindset, building positive relationships with clients Team player with strong collaboration skills Knowledge of group dynamics and change management Detail-oriented, self-starter who can work independently Strong time management and project planning abilities If you are a proactive problem-solver with a technical background and enjoy working directly with customers, please get in touch for a confidential discussion and I can take you through everything you need to know!
