About the Role:We are looking for a Special Education Support Assistant to provide crucial support for our students with diverse needs. Your role will encompass morning and afternoon sessions, assisting in fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment. Morning Session Responsibilities:In the morning session, you will work with two exceptional children: A non-verbal Year 1 boy with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), who has recently joined us from India. He does not speak English and can become quite distressed. We are seeking an individual with a calm demeanour who can help him settle into our school. Effective communication strategies are key.A Year 3 student with speech delay who requires assistance in staying on task and navigating transitions. Like the first student, this child also has minimal language skills, making patience and understanding crucial. Afternoon Session Responsibilities:In the afternoon, you will support a Year 3 class that includes students with various challenges, including one boy who needs specialized attention: One boy in particular who exhibits impulsive behaviour and signs of ADHD (although not formally diagnosed). This student requires constant engagement and close monitoring. He thrives with active breaks, enjoys outdoor activities, and loves the sensory room. Your role will involve keeping him engaged, creating a structured and consistent environment, and providing the support he needs to succeed.
