Job summaryWe are looking for someone who has experience in management and income generation and working in a customer service focused environment. This post is responsible for managing the development of income generating opportunities as part of the Training, Education and Development team. Through a range of educational activities and the hiring of the purpose built Education Centre at St Josephs Hospice. In addition to developing income streams, the manager will lead on audit, administration, governance and quality assurance activities on behalf of the team. The post demands an entrepreneurial approach combined with well-honed managerial and business skills in order to maximise potential income generation, relationship development opportunities and the effective delivery of programmed education. The Hospice also supports a small library which has a mix ofjournals and books related to end of life care for which this role would haveresponsibility.Discretion to actTheCentre Manager has the discretion to make the day-to-day decisionsrelating to the running of the Education Centre. This includes all decisionsrelating to bookings, health and safety, staff cover, promoting and marketingand the general smooth running of the centre.Alllong term and strategic decisions will be made in conjunction and with theagreement of the Head of Training Education and Development. Scale and impactThepost holder will have management responsibility for one direct report theEducation Centre Admin Assistant and will be indirectly responsible for theeducation centre volunteers.Budget the post holder will not be required to be a budget holder.Key Accountabilities1. Supporting a programme of training and development to bedelivered by St Josephs Hospice1.1Workingwith colleagues, proactively seek out and identify new opportunities to provideprogrammes of education and training. 1.2Supportbespoke training and development opportunities in response to requests frommembers of the public, professionals, and other agencies to provide regularevents that promote the hospice and its work in palliative care, workingclosely with and drawing upon the talent of staff working in the Education andLearning team, the Hospice and beyond concerning their design and delivery.1.3Maintainand develop accurate and up-to-date financial records of all payments and other cost relatedservices including but not exclusivelyE-learning credits, external lecturer/presenters payments, work experiencepayments, working with the Head of Training Education and Development to ensureall agreed payments are authorised promptly and in timely fashion 1.4Maintaingood ongoing communication with new and existing clients, both paying andnon-paying, ensuring that exemplary levels of customer service areprovided. 1.5Workwith the Head of Training Education and Development to establish a businessplan for the Education Centre, which identifies annual targets for income andrental of the facilities that are competitive and reflective of the capacity ofthe centre.1.6Establishand maintain a contact database that covers all contracts/agreements andcontract/agreement requirements.2. Promoting the Education Centre 2.1Workingclosely with the Head of Training Education and Development and the HospicesHead of marketing ,establish and implement a marketing plan for the EducationCentre and its provision, facilities anda scale of charges. 2.2Ensurethat relevant information and opportunities pertaining to education andtraining opportunities are communicated regularly and in a timely fashion bothwithin the organisation and to those relevant agencies external to the Hospice.2.3Proactivelyinitiate new client contacts, recording their details and interests regardingpotential usage on a suitable database2.4Workwith the internal marketing team to develop a suite of marketing materials topromote the Education Centre and the STJH education offer, reflective of thediverse user base that exists locally.2.5Workwith the internal Marketing team to ensure all communications and onlinepresence is in keeping with the brand guidelines of St Josephs Hospice. 2.6Ensureinformation presented on the Hospices website and internet concerning theEducation Centre remains up-to-date, relevant, informative and user friendly3. Day to Day Management of the facilities in the EducationCentre 3.1 Oversee the education centre areas toensure they remain fully compliant with all related safety, fire regulationsand relevant policies, undertaking riskassessments annually and as when needsarise, taking any appropriate and necessary action.3.2 Ensure appropriate systems are in placeto facilitate and support the smooth runningof the centre and all education, training and income generatingactivities3.3 Ensure that all visitors are offered a rangeof consistently high quality services and excellent customer service in anenvironment that is welcoming and accessible3.4 Ensure all users to the centre are fullyconversant and able to comply with fire evacuation procedures and safetyregulations3.5 Ensure that all resources are kept insafe and good working order and that there is always one member of staffavailable to support users of centre equipment3.6 Work with colleagues within STJH toensure equipment including the AV system and IT is maintained in line withHospice contracts held with externalsuppliers3.7 Ensure high value resources are keptlocked and secure when not in use and the Education Centre is closed. 3.8 Where required, conduct all financialtransactions in line with Hospice Policy and procedures.4. Audit, governance and quality assurance 4.1Support the Head of TrainingEducation and Development to monitor and evaluate the quality of the educationand learning provision provided; work with a range of colleagues to ensure allare delivered to a consistently high standard and carry appropriate evaluationmechanisms. 4.2 Act as the teams lead for the HospicesIT systems as they relate to the capturing, extrapolating and publishing oftraining data.4.3 Produce a range of statistics andreports for the Head of Training Education and Development, our externalacademic partners, members of the Senior Management Team and other keystakeholders on, but not exclusively, training data, income generation andattendance and customer satisfaction. The frequency and nature of these reportswill be agreed by the Head of Work closely with the Head of Training Educationand Development to ensure that the TED team role models the values of theHospice in all that it does and that all policies and practices are followed inline with internal governance arrangements.5.
