You will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, carriers, and suppliers to negotiate and confirm rates effectively. If you have the required experience and skills, we invite you to apply and become an integral part of our team.Key ResponsibilitiesReceive customer quotations via varying methods – email / online portal etcTo cover Ocean – Imports / Exports / Cross TradeNegotiate rates with carriers / hauliers / suppliers and confirm availability of equipment and agree prices where no tariff exists, to maximise cost-effectiveness.Prepare and submit customer quotations and proposals within agreed timeframe Work within our in-house system to create and issue quotationsCommunicate with customers to manage and follow up all quotes to obtain feedback to measure, analyse and circulate to the relevant teams, adjusting pricing where possible to ensure we secure opportunities.Track success/failure rate of quotes, reporting back to managementDevelop and build relationships and provide the highest level of customer service to all customersTo produce strategic tariffs when required to ensure effective workload and to ensure these tariffs are kept up to date and relevantMonitor carrier websites and notificationsPromote continuous improvementAny other delegated tasks deemed reasonable as assigned by the reporting manager in line with department growth.Engagement with ocean freight operational teams to ensure smooth handover of secured shipments General Skills Industry and operational knowledge of Ocean freight - inbound, outbound, and cross tradeAn understanding of how to influence the profitability through effective pricing Able to cope and accustomed to working under pressure to meet fixed deadlinesStrong numerical and commercial skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent attention to detail Excellent usage of computer / operating system (Microsoft Windows) along with other office applications (Microsoft Office) (Cargowise – preferable)Proactive, team worker with excellent time management and organisation skillsEnthusiastic, flexible, and self-motivatedWhy choose Metro?Competitive salary including a bonus which is paid twice a year!Access to our benefits, discounts and wellness platform including offers on gym memberships, a wide range of restaurants, retail and much more.Health cash plan.Octopus Electric Vehicle car scheme.Free parking.Respectful working environment.Plenty of opportunities for training and development
