General Manager

Central Taxis in Edinburgh is the city's largest and most reliable black cab company, offering a wide range of services to its customers. As Scotland's first and only Carbon Neutral taxi company, we serve both private clients and corporate groups.A General Manager is required to join our team in order to take on a variety of responsibilities.The RoleGeneral Managers are responsible for all departments, including Accounting, Business Development & Account Management, IT, and the Call Centre located west of the city. It is a challenging and varied position with around 45 full-time and part-time employees. The General Manager will report directly to the Company Chairman, who is assisted by four other directors.Key ResponsibilitiesRecruiting, training, developing, reviewing, and disciplining employeesManagement of our premises and equipmentManagement of ISO9001 & 14001 processesLiaison with clients and management of major accountsDocumentation and management of formal tendersAdministration, billing, and debt collection supervisionManaging supplier relationships and controlling costsWorking with the Call Centre staff to maximise delivery versus costReviewing management accounts, setting and managing forecasts and budgets with directorsSkills and Experience:General Management of a small to medium sized business with at least 10 staffManagement of a Sales & Marketing teamInvolvement with client relationships at a senior level in large Corporate and Public Sector environmentsBudget (profit & loss) responsibility and understanding of management accountsManagement of suppliers and outsource partner relationshipsExperience of formal quality systems (ISO 9001, 14001)Producing and working to a business planDemonstrable track record of delivering business improvements A motivated individual with a proactive approach to the business would be ideal for the position.
