As a Senior Strategic Category Planner, you will serveas a thought-leader, improving our external antennae and building adeep understanding of customer needs and category performance. Youwill have the opportunity to lead impactful CatEx strategyprojects, across Selection, Category Strategies and Trade Planning.If you are passionate about translating data into actionablestrategies, this role is a high-profile way to make a tangibleimpact on the business.
This role is a FixedTerm Contract for 12-months maternitycover.
Key jobresponsibilities
Category Strategies:
-Coordinate and facilitate Category Strategy processes, tools, andgovernance
- Deliver category data playbooks to supportcategory insight and strategy development
- Conductvendor listening sessions and derive insights
- Organizeand enable Category Strategy workshops with cross-functionalteams
- Ensure high-quality strategic outputs (categoryvision, objectives, initiatives)
- Govern theimplementation of the category strategy and monitorinitiatives
- Deliver ongoing engagement with vendors onmarket performance and activity, identifying joint opportunitiesfor growth
Category Insight &Thought-Leadership:
- Act as a "thought-leader" by beingat the forefront of category insight
- Build a thoroughunderstanding of customer/category needs and ensure the voice ofthe customer is embedded
- Stay up to date with categoryperformance using internal and external data
- Lead thecategory insight relationship with vendors and agencies; regularlyspend time to absorb and embed insights
- Act as the"voice of the category" in key mechanisms, alongside the VendorManager
Category ExcellenceStrategy:
- Lead on strategy projects with importantbusiness impact, such as Selection differentiation and TradePlanning
- Develop strategies incorporating customerinsight, market segment insight, relevant data inputs and key jobsto be done
- Step-change the ability of the business toturn data into insight, applying this to our value creationstrategy
- Own relevant mechanisms to track progressacross cross-functional teams and drive performance across keymetrics
BASICQUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's degree, or experience in aprofessional field or military
- Experience withExcel
- Experience using data to influence businessdecisions
- Experience with business analysis and P&Lmanagement
- Experience driving internal cross-teamcollaboration
- Experience in account management,project/program management, or buying
- 5+ years ofvendor manager or category planningexperience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -Knowledge of Microsoft Access or SQL
