Quantitative Developer - Commodity Trading

You will be working for a leading Energy & Commodity Trading company situated in London and will be involved in liaising with the various trading desks and IT to assess individual needs of each team and build out a data management infrastructure as well as to create custom analysis for traders and market analysts. The data sources range from third party data which needs to be pre-processed and ingested internally in a systematic manner, as well as internal data pertaining to trades and shipping operations RESPONSIBILITIES: Strong DBA in Microsoft SQL Server Be able to write SQL queries and make improvements to code with a focus on security Excellent programming skills preferably in Python or Powershell Build and maintain a data lake and related infrastructure working with IT to ensure ease of integration with existing systems. Review the market and recommend the best fit and be a focal point in the implementation of the solution Maintain a codebase of predictive analytics models, working alongside market analysts to ensure timely delivery of forecasts Ingest data from various APIs, FTP servers and other clean sources for access by the rest of the company through SQL secure queries Design and implement short and long-term strategic data platforms to support all business functions with present and future requirements Create dashboards upon request from the trading team to create a central repository of fundamental and price data Responsible for maintaining contractual agreements for all user subscriptions Develop analytical models and working with analysts on forecasting needs Support the continuing development of the analytical infrastructure and take up ad hoc analysis Be able to translate business requirements into IT solutions and maintain strong relations with IT Infrastructure administration and project management Any other tasks that the company may reasonably assign to you from time to time according to business needs. QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will be educated to degree level SKILLS: Excellent understanding of data engineering and ETL processes Knowledge of data modelling, schema design and database management systems (DBMS) Strong proficiency in related tools and languages, notably MS SQL and Python Hands on experience with data warehousing solutions such as Snowflake Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills that enable regular communications in appropriate style for a multinational and multicultural audiences A keen team member with a strong appreciation for the benefits of effective collaboration within the Analytics community Reliable and efficient member of the team who is keen to take accountability for specific pieces and ensure they are executed to a high standard Self-motivated and driven person with a desire to work in a global leading company KNOWLEDGE: Experience working with developers and maintaining a clean codebase of analytics. Working experience of virtualized platforms such as VMWare and general Windows Server Administration. Security focused. Demonstrate a strong academic background in a quantitative subject Knowledge of statistical analysis and data mining techniques Previous experience in commodity trading or a financial institution preferred Awareness of risks
