Position Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supply Chain Manager to join our client’s dynamic team. This pivotal role bridges procurement and quality, overseeing the compliance validation, purchasing, and inventory management of medical cannabis products. The ideal candidate will possess deep industry knowledge, particularly in specials medicines or medical cannabis import and distribution, and have a strong understanding of UK regulatory requirements. As a key player in a startup environment, you will ensure that product offerings meet the highest standards of quality and compliance while managing the complexities of the supply chain to support the company’s growth objectives. Key Responsibilities Procurement Compliance & Supplier Management: Evaluate all supplier products past on by the procurement team and assist with the onboarding of new suppliers to ensure a reliable and compliant supply chain Establish and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential suppliers, ensuring consistent product quality Validation of all products to verify compliance with UK standards and regulatory requirements Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure all procured products comply with UK quality standards and MHRA regulations. Liaise with regulatory authorities, including the Home Office and MHRA, to facilitate smooth import processes Maintain comprehensive documentation of product specifications, certifications, and compliance records Coordinate with the Quality Assurance team and that of partners to conduct inspections and testing of incoming products Logistics & Inventory Management: Manage inbound transportation logistics to ensure timely and efficient delivery of products Oversee proper storage of inventory, manage stock levels, and implement inventory control systems to maintain optimal stock Collaborate with distribution partners to manage the movement of products and ensure timely release of stock Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies, initially assisting with inventory management tasks until dedicated warehouse staff are in place Team Collaboration & Culture: Thrive in a hands-on, proactive startup environment, willing to take on diverse tasks as needed Foster a collaborative team atmosphere, working cohesively with colleagues across departments to achieve company objectives Contribute to the ongoing development of the company culture, participating in team-building activities and retreats as planned Market Analysis & Strategic Insights: Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes affecting the medical cannabis sector Provide strategic insights to the team based on market analysis and regulatory developments Qualifications Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field Strong experience of Good Distribution Practices (GDP), with willingness to assume RP responsibilities within procurement in the future Minimum of 3 years’ experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain management, or purchasing within specials medicines or medical cannabis Demonstrated experience working with MHRA and navigating UK regulatory frameworks Experience as a registered clinician, pharmacist, nurse, doctor, is preferred but not essential Skills and Competencies: Deep understanding of MHRA regulations and the ability to manage compliance-related challenges effectively Proven ability to effectively validation and ensuring the import of compliant specials products for the UK Familiarity with procurement software and ERP systems; adept in Microsoft Office Suite Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of translating technical details for diverse audiences Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment, demonstrating flexibility and initiative Collaborative mindset with a commitment to contributing positively to team dynamics and company culture
