WSN is seeking a Hybrid SQL Server Data Engineer/DBA to place in a role with our client, a multi-strategy, multi-manager hedge fund, As a multi-strategy fund, the firm trades globally across multiple asset classes and investment approaches. The environment is fast-paced, and they are growing rapidly. This is an excellent growth opportunity for someone looking to join a small team and have an immediate, outsized impact. This position will provide direct support to all Production, UAT, QA, and Development databases. These includes database health checks, performance efficiencies, security, database maintenance and patching, backup, restore and recovery, space (file system, db space, log space and tempdb) management, replication, HA and DR, data migration and integration; enforce data policies and RBAC user access administration.Not sure what skills you will need for this opportunity Simply read the full description below to get a complete picture of candidate requirements.The engineer expected to be a go to individual for performance optimisation and know how to write T-SQL scripts to help improve business processes and to make recommendations on improving database operations.General Requirements:Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, software engineering or equivalent education7+ years of experience in a database administrator role able to serve operational as a DBA.Will also serve as the defacto expert with Query optimisation, problem diagnostics.Proficiency in MS SQL Server database management on-prem and on cloud (Azure and/or AWS) Strong understanding of the SQL server technical fundamentals inside out and not just operationallyStrong SQL coding including complexed scripting and solutions design.Willing to learn and support new database technologies and techniques, well read on latest books on SQL server optimisation and performance.After-hours and weekend support (very minimum and occasional)Ability to cover at least 4 business hours per day in Eastern Standard TimeTechnical requirementsDetailed knowledge of SQL Server backup, restore, and log management techniques.Detailed experience implementing HA and Recovery solutions .Experience with the following SQL Server technologies: table partitioning, temporal tables, change tracking / change data capture, transactional replication.Experience migrating between database platforms (SQL Server to Azure DB and vice-versa)Experience and detailed knowledge Security Encryption, Auditing implementations, compliance with regulationsRole-Based Access Control: Expertise in RBACDetailed knowledge of SQL Server Performance Tuning & Optimization methodologies.Experienced Troubleshooting and Problem Solving using DBCC and performance diagnostics.Familiarity with Linux, Python, and enterprise job management platformsExperience in git-based version control workflows
