An opportunity for an up-and-coming hands-on engineer has become available with my client who specialise in materials testing solutions. They are looking to train the successful candidate to become their Quality & Deputy Technical Manager in the long term. Their ideal candidate will have hands on engineering experience in hydraulic and electrical disciplines and be looking to further expand their knowledge in a wide range of engineering skills.
Quality & Deputy Technical Manager role:
Should you be succesful as my clients Quality & Deputy Technical Manager, you will report to the Engineering Manager and be trained accordingly to be responsible for the following:
• Deputise in the absence of the Technical Manager, managing day-to-day operations, staff, and office duties.
• Apply knowledge of ASTM or ISO standards for testing and ensure compliance with technical regulations.
• Troubleshoot and repair basic hydraulic systems and diagnose electrical faults (switches, soldering).
• Operate an Optical Emission Spectrometer (OES) for chemical analysis.
• Oversee and manage Quality Management Systems, including ISO 17025, and ensure all documentation is current and compliant.
• Conduct internal audits and support external audits from certification bodies like UKAS.
Quality & Deputy Technical Manager requirements:
• Technical proficiency in both hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Experience with quality management, internal auditing, and external audit preparations (beneficial not essential)
• A flexible problem-solver who can wear many hats in a small team environment.
Quality & Deputy Technical Manager Package:
• Salary £30-£40k
