Network & Linux Infrastructure Engineer – Hedge Fund – Oxford
Network & Linux Infrastructure Engineer is required for exciting and innovative Hedge Fund based in Oxford. The successful Network & Linux Infrastructure Engineer will be working closely with the quantitative researchers and alongside other extremely talented and driven software engineers to build and support systematic trading models. The focus is on scalable, robust and well-thought-out engineering solutions. The company is looking for enthusiastic, reliable and bright engineer to fulfil challenging technical roles within a friendly and dedicated team. The critical nature of this infrastructure will require you to work both quickly and carefully and be available to provide out of hours support as part of a team.
Skills Required
• Thorough understanding of network and routing protocols (TCP/IP, LACP, MLAG, OSPF and BGP)
• Hands-on experience with enterprise class networking platforms (Arista, Cisco - IOS, Nexus)
• Thorough understanding of Next-Gen Firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco Firepower)
• Network and Linux administration and security – authentication and authorization systems, audit, hardening, analysis (including IPSEC and RADIUS).
• Excellent troubleshooting and creative problem-solving abilities, including packet-level traffic analysis
• Technical architecture and design including high availability systems and networks
• Advanced Programming and Scripting for Automation – Ansible, Python and Bash
Beneficial Experience
• Technical writing skills including creation of high and low-level network and system designs
• Experience working with data center and service provider networks is a plus
• Experience implementing, operating, and supporting open-source tools for network and systems monitoring on Linux platforms (Zabbix)
• Experience with Multicast Routing (PIM, IGMP)
• Experience with PostgreSQL for databases
Responsibilities
As an engineer within the infrastructure team. You will:
- Apply your expertise in some of the technologies listed above to architect and build scalable, robust, and secure systems to support trading operations.
- Drive the deployment of infrastructure using configuration management tools
- Know if systems are working optimally and be able to diagnose faults and address them, working with vendors and other internal teams.
