Principal Engineer

Principal Engineer - Nuclear Process Permanent Role Location - Plymouth, Devon A Principal Engineer is required to lead a team of Mechanical and Chemical Engineers in Plymouth. The client is a large international, reputable, and firmly established company with a portfolio across several sectors, including defence, nuclear and energy. Principal Engineer Benefits: Salary - £56,500 - £65,000 + Benefits + OT available. Holiday allowance of 25.5 days + bank holidays. Matched contribution pension scheme. Holiday trading (buy and sell up to a week per year). Employee share scheme. Life Assurance. Payment of professional fees. 36 hours per week, 9-day fortnight option. Hybrid (1-2 days on site). Principal Engineer Role: Supporting the onsite process of nuclear systems, projects, and maintenance of pipes, pumps, and tank systems around site. Managing and developing the team of Engineers with varying levels of seniority/experience. Leading engineering analyses including calculations, component structural analysis, and system fluid flow analysis. Supporting the development and operation of new facilities for the defuel of decommissioned nuclear submarines. Providing technical guidance on the safe transfer, storage, treatment and disposal or radioactive liquid effluent from in-service submarines. Principal Engineer Requirements: Experience in either a Principal or Senior Engineering role, with knowledge of mechanical principles for the design, operation, and maintenance of pressure/pipework systems. Educated to degree level in either Mechanical or Chemical Engineering. Hold Chartership or actively working towards Chartership. Experienced in leading a team of engineers in a technical support function. Prior experience using engineering software packages (e.g. for computer aided design, stress analysis or fluid flow).
