The business we are recruiting for is a diverse and historic business set in the picturesque Herefordshire countryside, with a strong reputation for producing high-quality produce. With a focus on innovation and quality, they operate a modern packing facility equipped with advanced technology to meet the demands of the fresh produce sector.
We are therefore, now looking to recruit a Packhouse Manager to lead their state-of-the-art packhouse operation overseeing all aspects of the packhouse, ensuring smooth, efficient, and compliant operations.
You will manage a team of operatives and team leaders, handle the packing and quality control processes, and ensure that all products meet customer specifications and standards. The role also involves working closely with their harvesting teams to maintain the highest standards of handling and delivery.
Manage, train, and motivate a team of packhouse operatives, ensuring high performance and productivity. Ensure compliance with all health and safety, food safety, and industry regulations.
Equipment & Technology: Oversee the use of advanced machinery, such as the MAF Roda Optical Grader and heat-seal lines, ensuring their smooth operation and maintenance.
Continuous Improvement: Implement process improvements and efficiencies to meet production targets, reduce waste, and maintain high product quality.
What do you need?
- Proven experience in a similar packhouse or production management role, ideally within the fresh produce sectors.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with modern packing equipment and technology, as well as quality control procedures.
- Capable of identifying operational issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Knowledge of health & safety regulations, food safety, and industry standards.
