The Role:
So, what will you be doing as an Operations Project Engineer?
Your main responsibility will be project management and organisation of major projects and project work undertaken in the operations department. This includes but is not limited to major plant overhauls, government funded upgrade scheme and major network upgrades and improvements. For this type of project work, you will be acting as the main project lead, interfacing with technical departments, internal engineering departments, and external contractors to deliver projects in safely, in time, and in budget.
- Act as the primary contact and lead for key projects within the Operations department, ensuring alignment with departmental goals.
- Oversee project planning, execution, and completion within established timelines and budget constraints.
- Collaborate closely with technical departments, internal engineering teams, and external contractors to drive successful project outcomes.
- Engage in all project stages, from concept and budgeting to procurement, delivery, and final commissioning.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards throughout project lifecycles.
- Develop, monitor, and manage project budgets to align with financial goals.
- Establish and track project schedules to ensure on-time delivery.
- Prepare and deliver detailed project updates and reports to senior management regularly.
What are we looking for in our next Operations Project Engineer?
- Relevant qualifications or demonstrated experience in engineering or project management.
- Hands-on experience managing large projects, ideally within district heating systems, including CHP, gas boilers, biomass boilers, and energy centres.
- Strong understanding of BMS/SCADA systems and/or energy software programming.
- Willingness to travel frequently as needed.
- NEBOSH, IOSH, or similar certifications are recommended.
- Strong communication abilities for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficient in IT, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and email platforms.
- Proven team leadership and people management skills are highly preferred.
- Strong organizational, time management, and planning abilities.
