Planning Team Leader

We are currently looking for a proactive and skilled leader with a passion for production planning and team development.
Join a Global leader in fluid engineering, and lead our planning team in optimising operations and ensuring the smooth delivery of projects.
The Role:
As the Planning Team Leader, you will be responsible for managing the daily work centre operations and producing shop floor plans that keep production running efficiently. You will level the workload across production areas, ensuring plans are achievable, while leading and motivating your team to meet key performance targets. This role requires strong organisational skills, leadership capabilities, and experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee capacity management and ensure shift patterns and capacities are updated in SAP
- Provide detailed 2-week, quarterly, and annual production plans for operational cells
- Ensure all planning actions align with project schedules, supporting smooth operations
- Implement and manage KPIs to track progress, ensuring the department meets key targets
- Lead and motivate your team, ensuring roles and responsibilities are effectively actioned
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and drive the development of recovery plans
- Maintain safety, quality, and compliance across all planning operations
- Lead departmental communication, ensuring clarity on schedules, performance, and safety initiatives
What You'll Bring:
- Proven experience in production planning or scheduling, ideally within the engineering or manufacturing sector
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team
- Making strong and strategic decisions
- Building good relationships and supporting the team
- Experience with planning systems, including SAP (PP modules) is a must
- Knowledge of Lean principles and a proactive approach to process improvement
- Relevant experience in the engineering and the manufacturing industry, ideally working with one-off products
- IOSH qualification and familiarity with safety leadership practices
- Excellent organisational skills, with attention to detail and a solutions-focused mindset
