Health, Safety and Quality Control Assistant Manager
Ward are recruiting for an experienced Health, Safety and Quality professional to join the business.
Are you a Senior Health and Safety Advisor or Deputy Manager looking for an opportunity to join a dynamic function within a rapidly expanding business? We are looking for someone who is ready to develop their skills and knowledge in the practical application of health and safety in the workplace.

The role: Reporting to the Health, Safety & Quality Control Manager you will assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of the company’s integrated management system, whilst also providing advice and guidance to operational managers, supervisors and employees.
You will play a vital role in implementing the overall QHS strategy across all locations in England and Wales. This will include the development and delivery of training, tool box talks and safety alerts for communication within the organisation.
Responsibilities:
* Attend HSQC Meetings to ensure that Ward’s Health, Safety and Quality Objectives are being met,
* Attend Quarterly QHSE Meetings to ensure that communication, consultation and participation requirements are being met,
* Maintain compliance with ISO 45001:2018, ISO 9001:2015, BS EN 15713:2009 certifications and all aspects of Ward’s statutory and regulatory obligations, plus any additional recommendations made by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE),
* In consultation with the workforce, support with the development, review, communication and implementation of H&S Procedures / Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs),
* Maintain and update the Integrated Management System,
* In consultation with the workforce, support with the development, review and communication of suitable and sufficient Risk Assessments (RAs),
* Evaluate and maintain Contractor Compliance,
* Completion and communication of regular QHS inspections across the business,
* Recording and investigation accidents, incidents, and near misses reported across the business, including reporting RIDDOR incidents to the HSE, where applicable,
* Identification and provision of adequate PPE,
* Participation in the procurement of suitable machinery / equipment,
* Keeping up to date with, and understanding, applicable Legislation, Policies and Standards, and ensuring these are communicated and embedded in Ward’s working practices and day-to-day operations,
* Providing support and appropriate responses to tenders, bids and PQQs, and ensuring that Ward’s HSCQ credentials meet the requirements of our stakeholders,
* Participating in Internal and External Audits at planned intervals,
* Investigating non-conformities (NCs) and opportunities for improvement (OFIs), and implementing appropriate corrective actions,
* Educating employees at all levels of applicable Health, Safety and Quality Requirements and the impact of non-compliance,
* Deputising for the Health, Safety and Quality Control Manager as required.
Your profile: To be considered for this role you must meet the following criteria:
* Proven experience within a health and safety role and ready to work or currently working, at a Senior Advisor level or above.
* Demonstrable desire to learn and improve.
* A genuine passion for the role.
Technical Competencies:
* NEBOSH General Certificate, or equivalent (Mandatory)
* NEBOSH Diploma, or equivalent (Preferred)
* Understanding of ISO45001 and 9001 (Preferred)
* Auditing and inspection experience (Preferred)
Package: The successful applicant will be offered a salary in the region of £45,000 plus company car.
