HGV Mechanic

HGV Mechanic (265jc) – Cottesmore - £27 per hour (Via Ltd Company) Our client has an immediate need for a number of HGV Mechanics for an initial 3-month contract, and you will be working out of Kendrew Barracks close to Cottesmore. DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY. You will be responsible for the diagnostic testing, servicing, and repairs of Commercial & Military vehicles, and this role will suit individuals currently working as an HGV Mechanic Fitter, Automotive / Mechanical Fitter, Specialist Vehicle Mechanic, Car Mechanic, Fitter. Useful, but not essential would-be working knowledge of military vehicles, processes, and FMT 932 inspection criteria. Your key responsibilities will include: Job specific responsibilities * Inspection and Test of vehicle status to assess overall condition of vehicle. * Strip replace / repair units in accordance with work instructions. * Assess individual components to ensure they are fit for purpose. * Build and test product in accordance with manufacturer instructions. * Report any faults to the Workshop Supervisor who will advise what action is needed. General * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to be flexible and work outside core hours on occasion. * Travel to other group sites and occasional overseas travel may be required. * Must be able to work in the UK without restrictions & meet UK government security vetting criteria. Health & Safety * Adhere to all relevant Health and safety procedures and observe safe working practices. All work to be conducted in a safe manner. * Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to be used when required. * All tools and equipment are to be cleared away at the end of a task and work area cleared up before the end of working day. * All hand tools (if used) are to be maintained in a safe useable condition. * To advise advanced Technician, team leader or line manager of any Health & Safety issues promptly. To be eligible for these roles you will need the following * The job holder will require a valid driving licence. * Excellent understanding principles of vehicle mechanics. * Knowledge of engineering technology. * Manual dexterity. * Good physical fitness and stamina. * Customer service skills. * Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure. * Attention to detail. * Proven experience of repair & maintenance on Commercial vehicles, HGV / Construction Equipment / Heavy Plant and / or military vehicle experience preferred but not essential. The ideal candidate would probably be an ex REME VM who is able to hit the ground running within a very short space of time. In return they are offering a good hourly rate of £27 per hour LTD Company / Umbrella or £22.50 per hour PAYE. As stated, this is for an initial 3 month contract, but there may be a possibility of extensions going forwards.
