Job Summary
Our client is a fast-growing, dynamic, privately owned company that specialises in the construction of large new build, super prime projects.
The geographical focus is Hampshire and the surrounding areas. Due to continued expansion, we are looking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator with a successful track record of working on construction projects valued at £1m-£5m to assist with tenders and the delivery of new build projects.
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be an integral member of the team responsible for completing tenders from receipt of the invite to tender to submission of all required documentation. Upon a tender's success, you will support the project managers in liaising with suppliers, subcontractors, and any other stakeholders as directed.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Prepare tender documentation for submission
- Interpret/measure drawings from concept designs through to full working construction drawings
- Review material requirements and prices, and place orders as per site requests
- Monitor costs to ensure budgets are met
- Attend client meetings and assist with the determination of project requirements, as and when required
- Manage, record and issue cost variations during and on completion the projects
- Complete detailed, trade-specific enquiries and accurately communicate relevant information to the various subcontractors
- Effectively and accurately communicate relevant information to the client and project team
- Communicate ideas for improving company processes with a positive and constructive attitude, and for developing this attitude in others
The person
- Minimum of five years experience in the construction industry
- Excellent attention to detail
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Sheets and Documents
- Effective verbal, written communication skills, and strong presentation skills
- Ability to interpret drawings, produce take-offs and prepare bill of quantities
- Have a deep understanding of construction methods and materials
- Ability to send detailed, trade-specific enquiries and accurately communicate relevant information to the various subcontractors to ensure the accuracy of pricing
- Experience in reviewing quotations to ensure accurate and reasonable pricing is recommended for approval
- Exceptional organisational, multitasking and prioritising skills
- Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment
- You must be UK-based and live within commutable distance of the position's location
- Sponsorship is unavailable, so you must have full leave to remain
- Working knowledge of Contractor Foreman software
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Cost Management or a related field.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and keen to develop their role within the business
- Valid UK Driving licence
