DBS Check: Enhanced Closing Date: 17/11/2024 at 23:00 Reference: 706030 We have an excellent opportunity available for a Prevention Officer to join our proactive Public Health Team at Wokingham Borough Council, on a full-time, permanent basis. As a Prevention Officer, you will play an integral role in delivering the Wokingham Long Term Health Prevention programmes to those individuals who have been referred on prescription by a Health Professional onto the scheme, both in the practical delivery of physical activity sessions and the required consultations of the referral. This includes, but not limited to, supporting all other health preventative programmes in the team (e.g. Escape Pain, Falls Prevention, Cardiac Rehab and Active Ageing), deliver physical activity sessions and consultations where necessary and required to do so. The aim of the service is to develop facilities, policies and strategies relating the Health & Wellbeing and Leisure Strategies, ensuring that they contribute to the Council’s overall Vision and Goals. Co-ordinating, monitoring and ensuring all exercise classes/ sessions are appropriate, safe and effective. Ensure all health and safety issues are identified within the settings and Risk Assessments carried out Co-ordinate and deliver consultations with participants on the Wokingham Long Term Health Physical Activity Referral Scheme, adhering to our data and management protocols, including confidentiality. Provide feedback and collect relevant data from the individual’s assessments in order to provide the Senior Public Health Programme Officer with evidence-based data for future funding opportunities To deliver programmes both in the practical delivery of physical activity sessions and through verbal consultations with the individual. Candidate Requirements Relevant degree or equivalent qualifications/Sport and Leisure/Health National Governing Body level 2 gym instructor Level 3 in Exercise Referral Desirable Other relevant qualifications level 4 e.g. PSI, Neuro desirable Previous experience in exercise prescription/running physical activity sessions Driving Licence and own transport The role may include some evening delivery.
