This post is a fixed term 0.6FTE contract as a job share with the substantive postholder.
The MA Fine Art Chelsea is a 15-month course that is focused on conceptual, performative, new media, and light fabrication practices within professionalized and collaborative international contexts. The MAFA has a large, dynamic, and internationally diverse student community. The course supports an active-learning curriculum foregrounding the values of sociality, global citizenship, critical innovation and entrepreneurialism.
The Interim Course Leader will have a substantial professional profile outside of academia. They will utilize their expertise of global art contexts, industry operations and dissemination streams across the international arts sectors, and draw from their established artworld experience and professional networks to develop a live MA Fine Art curriculum responsive to graduate futures and knowledge exchange priorities.
The Course Leader will continuously enhance the course’s world-leading curriculum design and teaching innovation, and further develop external partnerships to ensure industry-purposed pedagogies.
About you
You will have a substantial professional profile outside of academia, and your internationally established practice in the contemporary arts sector will demonstrate your recognised expertise in your specialist area.
You will have an astute understanding of a broad range of art practices, histories, contexts, and graduate destinations globally. Your knowledge of contemporary art and theory from non-European regions is desirable. You will have an established track record of teaching and management in the HE sector at postgraduate level, and experience of working with very substantial and culturally diverse cohorts. You will have experience in team-building and excellent professional networks to draw from to design and deliver a course with a dynamic international profile. You will be well-organised, inspirational, have outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and be a confident and engaging public speaker. You will have an engaging approach to working with others that promotes inclusivity, initiative, and professionalism.
