We are currently recruiting for an experienced Designer to join our Design Team on a full-time permanent basis.
The successful candidate will contribute to creating high-quality, impactful work that helps to deliver marketing messages about our artistic programme, events and site; and supports the wider Southbank Centre.
We are looking for someone with a portfolio of catchy ideas, and strong visual identities as well as having good graphic and visualisation skills, and is confident working with typography.
The Design Studio works across most Departments of the Southbank Centre, from Marketing to Programming, Creative Engagement to Commercial. We are responsible for creating or approving the majority of visual outputs for the Southbank Centre, both on and off-site.
Responsibilities
- Working collaboratively as a core member of the design team to produce creative and visually arresting campaigns and communications that talk appropriately to our audiences and complement the Southbank Centre brand
- To create engaging design solutions for Southbank Centre communications across a broad range of media - online and offline
- To keep a keen eye on the direction of Southbank Centre's brand and identity and to apply it consistently and coherently across all platforms
- To assist in the creation of design solutions to briefed projects, taking into account the target audience, budget and production schedules as specified in the briefing document
- To work with internal clients to produce marketing materials consistent with lead campaign materials
- To prepare finished artwork for production
- Where appropriate to progress-chase and to supervise the working schedules of those commissioned
- To assist and advise outside promoters in their use of Southbank Centre's brand
- To work closely with colleagues in the delivery of a flexible, responsive and client-focused design service
- Any other duties as reasonably requested by your line manager and or Head of Department.
Knowledge, skills and experience
- Experience in a design studio environment, and/or working directly with clients
- Experience of working with visual identities
- Proven experience of designing and producing a wide range digital and printed assets, with attention to detail and adherence to brand guidelines
- A good understanding of print production techniques, and experience of setting up artwork for print
- Advanced fluency in Adobe Creative Suite - specifically InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator - and fluency in After Effects. Additional training can be provided through Skillshare
- Able to demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and an ability to engage with the content of design materials
- Be able to work independently or as part of a team
- Experience of working to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to effectively manage and organise priorities and workload
- Able to work quickly and accurately to meet long and short deadlines
- Ability to prioritise across multiple projects
- Able to effectively communicate at all levels
- A good understanding of current design techniques, and aware of trends and industry developments
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the role that diversity and inclusion play in the activities of the Southbank Centre as a whole and in the work of this particular job.
