Our Geoscience team: Venterra’s Geoscience team is made up of market-leading experts from Ordtek, GDG, and Partrac. We offer unparalleled site characterisation, geoscience management, sediment processes, UXO management, and GIS and data services, tailored to meet the comprehensive needs of our clients. Role Description: We are seeking a part-time Finance Assistant to join our Venterra Geoscience service line, based on-site at our Hethel, Norwich office. As an integral member of our finance team, you will support the day-to-day financial operations and contribute to the overall efficiency of our accounting processes. This role offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic and collaborative environment, ideal for someone who is recently qualified and eager to embark on a career in finance. In this junior position, you will gain hands-on experience across a range of financial tasks, from processing invoices to assisting with budget forecasting and audit preparations. You will work closely with experienced professionals, allowing you to develop your skills and knowledge within the industry. Key Responsibilities: Record all incoming invoices accurately, prepare payment runs, and ensure timely payment to suppliers. Accurately and promptly file financial documents, including receipts, purchase orders, and other transactional records. Enter financial data into accounting software and spreadsheets to maintain accurate transaction records. Assist the Finance Coordinator in gathering and compiling data needed for budget forecasting and variance reporting. Prepare documents and records needed for internal and external audits. Resolve queries and ensure smooth financial processes by communicating with other departments and external stakeholders (e.g., suppliers). Provide general administrative support to the finance team, including scheduling meetings, organising documents, and performing other tasks as needed. Expertise Required: Proven experience as a Finance Assistant or in a similar role. Understanding of basic accounting procedures and principles. Proficiency in Xero accounting software. Experience with Oracle NetSuite is advantageous. Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance standards. Proficient in Microsoft Office 365. Education/Qualifications and Competencies: An appropriate qualification such as: AAT Level 2 or higher ACA ACCA CGMA University degree in Accountancy, Accounting and Finance, or similar Excellent attention to detail. Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong organisational skills with a flexible approach and the ability to prioritise.
