Senior Estimator

Founded in 1978, Clark Contracts Ltd is a privately owned main contractor with several operating divisions; Construction, Fit Out, Small Works, Retail, Housing, Maintenance and Manufactured Joinery. ? We employ over 220 people with offices in the East and West of Scotland. We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our Construction, Housing and Retail divisions. The ideal candidate will have a solid track record of delivering accurate estimates for high-value construction in the £10million to £40million region. This role will play a pivotal part in our pre-construction phase, ensuring that all bids are competitive and financially sound. What Youll Do: As a Senior Estimator, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with an experienced team, reporting directly to the Estimating Manager. You will: Collaborate with the Bid team including procurement, design, and project management, to develop comprehensive bid proposals. Interpret and review complex architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and other documents to accurately estimate the scope of works. Lead the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for large-scale construction projects, typically valued at £10 million+. Identify and analyse potential risks and opportunities associated with project estimates and ensure these are adequately addressed in the proposal. Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing, ensuring all costs are validated. Assist in post-tender negotiations to ensure projects are commercially viable and in line with the companys objectives. Identify compliant Value Engineering opportunities that provide our Client with Value for Money whilst maintaining quality aspirations for their project. Take an active role in our Supply Chain Management Initiative, building strong relationships with subcontractors to drive winning partnerships. Be a key player in submitting winning tenders on time while ensuring cost-effective solutions. What Were Looking For: A proven track record in a similar estimating role within the contracting world, with a focus on winning tenders that align with the companies commercial needs and risk profile. Proven experience in estimating large-scale construction projects, with a solid understanding of building methods, materials, and UK construction standards. A proactive, solutions-driven mindset, thriving when working independently and using your initiative to solve problems. Strong knowledge of estimation software (e.g., Conquest, Causeway, or equivalent). Experience working with SBCC, NEC3/3, JCT contracts, or other relevant forms of contract. Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with attention to detail. A passion for performance, excelling in fast-paced environments and continuously seeking ways to improve. Why Join Us?
