Integrity Education Solutions are supporting a unique independent SEN group based in London, that provides therapeutic education for children and young people with special educational / neurodiverse learning needs (SEN). They are seeking a passionate, dynamic, and experienced Assistant Headteacher to join their leadership team within one of their schools based in East London, where they support pupils aged 7-19 with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs and ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition). The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in helping shape the vision and direction of the school, ensuring all students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Provide inspirational leadership, promoting high expectations for all students and staff. * Work closely with the Headteacher to drive school improvement and ensure a culture of continuous learning and innovation. * Oversee curriculum development and ensure outstanding teaching and learning practices are embedded across the school. * Lead on pastoral care, safeguarding, and pupil well-being, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all. * Foster strong relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies to support the holistic development of our students. * Monitor and analyse student data to inform strategic decision-making and improve outcomes for all learners. * Support staff development through mentoring, coaching, and performance management. KEY EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS * Recent and proven experience (Minimum of 2 years) as an effective Designated Safeguarding Lead, ideally within a specialist provision * QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and has a strong understanding of the SEN Code of Practice. * Proven track record of leadership within a special education setting, ideally with experience working with SEMH and ASC students. * Experience working with children and young people at high risk of aggressive and/or sexualised behaviour, high risk and/or complex co-morbid mental health issues at Tier 3 and 4, highly vulnerable to exploitation * Pupils who are highly vulnerable to exploitation including those at risk of sexual exploitation and vulnerable young mothers, complex offending, substance misuse and/or significant gang related issues, high dependency pupils with a range of physical, psychological and healthcare needs. * Experience working in or collaborating with relevant multi-disciplinary teams across education, health and social care, and working in collaboration with professionals and the wider community to safeguard children and young people. * Experience of supporting neurodiverse children or with ASC and/or SEMH and an understanding of potential implications for communication, learning and behaviour patterns. * Demonstrable experience of raising outcomes for pupils with neuro-diverse needs whilst promoting a culture of inclusion. * Knowledge of principles and practice of quality assurance systems, including school self evaluation and performance management. * Proven experience of managing, motivating and developing staff teams. * Knowledge of legislation, National Policies and Procedures e.g. Keeping Children Safe in Education, Child Protection, Children’s Act * Knowledge of local systems and procedures in respect of safeguarding.
