Quality Control / Quality Assurance / QA Manager who has a good understanding of metallurgical processes, properties and testing methods together with knowledge of quality control techniques and an understanding of industry standards is required for a Foundry based in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk. SALARY: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum + Benefits LOCATION: Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk (IP32) JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent JOB OVERVIEW We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Quality Control / Quality Assurance / QA Manager who has a good understanding of metallurgical processes, properties and testing methods together with knowledge of quality control techniques and an understanding of industry standards. Working as the Quality Control / Quality Assurance / QA Manager you will ensure that customers quality requirements are fulfilled or exceeded and to ensure the efficient operation of the quality, inspection and heat treatment departments. As the Quality Control / Quality Assurance / QA Manager you will also need to be able to interpret engineering drawings and specifications with the ability to identify and analyse defects. ABOUT THE COMPANY The manufacturing facilities are based around the Gravity Die and Air Set Sand Moulding processes which combined produce in excess of 800 tonnes of aluminium alloy castings per year. They are constantly working to meet the continuously increasing demands and standards of their customers who along with themselves are all working within an increasingly competitive market. DUTIES Your duties as a Quality Control / Quality Assurance / QA Manager will include: Responsible for the Companys Quality Management System. This will include: The maintenance and development of the Quality Management System and associated documents Ensuring that the companys Quality Policy is relevant to overall business objectives and that it is implemented throughout the company All aspects of quality control and quality assurance Ensuring that all personnel are aware of their responsibility to work in accordance with the companys Quality Assurance Procedures (QAPs) Ensuring that Management Review is carried out in accordance with QAP-12 Responsible for the quality, inspection and heat treatment departments and associated staff Communicate and liaise with customers on matters relating to quality. This will include: Responsibility for monitoring customer satisfaction and the effective handling of customer complaints in accordance with QAP-01 and QAP-12 Prepare PPAP documentation as and when required Control and administer the concession and Production Permit procedure in accordance with QAP-09 Ensure that quality, inspection and heat treatment personnel receive appropriate training in accordance with QAP-13 Monitor product nonconformity in accordance with QAP-10 and initiate corrective action as and when necessary Maintain the Data Manger database with the latest quality data and CAR actions Monitor and action when required to ensure that batch card instructions are adhered against Conduct regular audits and root cause analyses, implementing corrective and preventive actions as necessary to drive continuous improvement Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers to ensure materials meet quality requirements Lead quality initiatives and provide technical guidance to operational teams to promote adherence to quality processes CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS Proven experience as a QA Manager in a steel or aluminium manufacturing environment Strong knowledge of quality management systems Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Strong leadership and communication skills Ability to work effectively under pressure HOW TO APPLY To be considered for this job vacancy, please submit your CV to our Recruitment Team who will review your details.
