Production Manager/Chargehand
About the Role: We’re looking for an experienced Production Manager / Chargehand to join our Manufacturing team. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of sheet metal production, fabrication engineering, and overseeing our supply chain. The ideal candidate will ensure production efficiency, quality control, and effective team performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Management: Identify production issues early, optimize efficiency using MRP systems, troubleshoot production challenges, and handle employee performance matters. Health, Safety, and Quality: Maintain high standards in health and safety, quality, and overall performance within the production team. Inventory and Logistics: Monitor stock levels and delivery dates, coordinate with dispatch, and place orders for consumables and subcontracted goods. Supplier Coordination: Support sourcing new suppliers, raising orders, and building supply chain relationships. Planning and Scheduling: Develop detailed production plans, resource schedules, and monitor production to ensure timely delivery and budget adherence. Reporting and Communication: Regularly update and report production status, assess team performance, and share insights to improve efficiency. Who We’re Looking For:
A proactive, results-oriented team player with excellent decision-making skills and strong attention to detail. Able to manage tasks independently, with effective communication skills, a positive attitude, and a desire to grow within the company. Skilled in Microsoft Office, organized, and experienced with production and project management. Committed to safety, respect, and equality in the workplace. Qualifications and Experience:
Required:
Proven experience in a similar role within the construction or manufacturing sector. Strong organization, administration, and communication skills. Knowledge of sheet metal and fabrication processes.
Preferred:
MRP system knowledge, mechanical or industrial engineering qualifications, and a UK driver’s license. Forklift license (training can be provided if needed).
