Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Technical Specialist Chassis & Motion Controls to be based at our office in Warwick . Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery. The Role: Supporting the growth of the domain within a key customer and reporting directly to the Chief Engineer for Chassis and Motion Control, an exciting role has become available for a Motion Controls & Systems Engineering Technical Specialist to lead the technical development of Motion System technologies across multiple product lines. This key role will not only shape the departments controls and systems engineering direction but will be responsible for the technical delivery of multiple projects with the customer, with the scope of the work including; leading the systems engineering and controls team, guiding and mentoring individuals at all levels in both systems and controls engineering techniques and disciplines. Area of Responsibility Accountable for the technical delivery of multiple Chassis and Motion Control Systems onto customers new and existing vehicle lines. Manage both controls and systems engineering teams, along with managing both external and internal interfacing teams. Provide leadership and technical mentoring to team individuals at all levels of experience Promote efficient communications between customers partner organisations and TTL controls team. Represent the team and the technology in multiple forums as a subject matter and technical expert for the delivered systems. Lead the requirements definition, decomposition, cascade and appropriate assignment to interfacing systems, along with definition of appropriate test cases to ensure full requirements coverage. Ensuring all technical deliverables meet customer milestones to the appropriate quality expectations. Lead all and mentor others in formal issue analysis / root cause activities using appropriate tools such as 8D/Fishbone etc ensuring timely and robust issue resolution. Accountable for all virtual DVP planning, execution and sign off e.g. SIL/HIL Responsible for tools and processes in the department, ensuring robust and efficient delivery to customer Sw quality Standards and System Engineering Principles. Support the department head with technical input into bid preparation and proposals to promote growth and sustainability of the domain. Knowledge / Experience Knowledge / Experience (Essential) Automotive, Electrical or Software Engineering Degree with a minimum of 10 years Industry Experience (Automotive Preferred) Expert knowledge of Automotive Chassis / Motion Systems and associated features e.g. Roll Control Systems, Adaptive Damping, Switchable Air Springs, Fully Active Suspension in either the controls or mechatronics domain, although strong candidates with relevant system experience from other industries such as aerospace will also be considered. Extensive experience leading the delivery of complex control systems from concept to production. Expert knowledge of system engineering techniques and tools e.g. SysML Knowledge of vehicle dynamics theory particularly in the active systems domain. Experience of systems development and delivery through all stages of the engineering development V cycle, including understanding of system principals. Experience of safety critical active control systems and associated software, including standards such as ISO26262, IEC61508 or similar. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong influencing and engagement skills. Strong ability to guide and coach team members to enhance the teams capability. Competent in leading teams in issue resolution methodology and application e.g. 8D, Fishbone. Full UK driving license Knowledge / Experience (Desirable) Experience in working with and managing decentralised software delivery teams and external companies delivering software components as part of a larger software product. Requirements and change management tools and processes, version control, control strategy documentation. Understanding of automotive networking, diagnostics and fault handling techniques, and related system development tools (CANalyzer, ASL, CANape, etc.) Hands on vehicle testing in the active systems domain including subjective and objective test methods, along with appropriate industry standard driving qualifications.
